Auckland electropop four piece Whistlejacket release party for debut EP ‘Year Of The Horse’

01 September 2014 - 0 Comments

Celebrating the year of the horse and the simultaneous release of their debut EP fittingly titled, well, Year Of The Horse of course, Auckland four-piece Whistlejacket play Nectar in Kingsland on September 11th for the EP release party. https://www.facebook.com/events/1486638251583716/

Already gaining traction on commercial radio and music television from the EP’s first two singles She Likes Pop Art and We Get This Feeling , Whistlejacket mix electro pop and contemporary indie dance that culminates in an explosion that they call modern day musical pop art.

Whistlejacket formed in 2012, a group of four old friends who have played in bands such as 5star Fallout, Rubicon and with writing/performance credits with the likes of The Exponents, OpShop and Nesian Mystik. Upon going away for a writing weekend to see what they could create they realised that their shared passion for the game of Monopoly and writing great pop songs should no longer be confined to their computers and bedrooms. From it came the beginnings of their debut EP, now being unleashed upon the world.

2014, The Year Of The Horse, can only mean big things for Whistlejacket who were aptly named after the famous George Stubbs’ painting and feature Adam Stevenson’s own white Stationbred horse in the video clip for We Get This Feeling. They are known for an upbeat, good-times live show and dapper imagery with their custom made Whistlejacket suit jackets complete with pocket emblem.
