NZ Band Ghetto Sunrise Release Debut Album

28 April 2014 - 0 Comments

Ghetto Sunrise are the new face of New Zealand Drum and Bass.

This album sees Ghetto Sunrise depart from the roots inspired electronica of their debut EP, One Drop Love, coming back hard and heavy to deliver an album with an energetic live drum n bass sound.

The band comments "Ghetto Sunrise is comprised of heavy drum n bass fanatics and we felt that it was time to return to our roots and release something with a harder edge, whilst still maintaining the characteristic dynamics our fans love us for.”

The Auckland band formed in 2012, features; Joel C Blood on Guitars, Vocals and Programming, Josh Burke on Guitars and Backing Vocals and "B-sey" on Bass and synths. Ghetto Sunrise also has a welcome new guest member for this record, Emma Petera, who sings lead vocals on the songs Lost and Higher. She also sings backing vocals on an additional 4 songs. B-Sey, says "Emma has been a friend of the band since its inception. She is a killer vocalist and drum n bass fiend so it just made sense that she came on board and worked with us on this record".

The self-titled record features 13 songs that the band say are reminiscent of Shapeshifter, Pendulum, Black Sun Empire and the Prodigy. β€œThe debut drum n bass record from Ghetto Sunrise bombastically fuses hard edged drum n bass and pulsing dubstep with smatterings of Bristol inspired trip hop, all under the influence of a heavy metal rhythm section.”

Joel C Blood says "This record will appeal to the palate of live music lovers and vinyl nuts alike. We will take the audience to a whole new musical environment with this record.”

The self-titled album was recorded at their private studio and is released by Rhythm Method. The first single Lost can be heard on air. The band will also be touring in July and August to support the release.

Ghetto Sunrise is available online and in-store from May 2, 2014.
