Music News - Fly My Pretties cast announcement for Queenstown Blues & Roots Festival

Fly My Pretties joins a stunning line-up of acclaimed national and international acts at the first Queenstown Blues & Roots Festival this April. The one-day outdoor event will be held at the Queenstown Events Centre on Saturday April 26 2014 and along with Fly My Pretties features legendary California rock band The Doobie Brothers, along with acclaimed singer-songwriter Elvis Costello and The Imposters, dub, funk, afrobeat and soul masters The Black Seeds, veteran blues musician King Leo and all-girl group The Johnnys.
Once again, ring-leader Barnaby Weir will be assembling some of New Zealand’s finest musicians for the line-up, the cast includes:
Anika Moa, Anna Coddington, Mel Parsons, Ria Hall, Barnaby Weir, Iraia Whakmoe, Jarney Murphy, Kara Gordon, Louis McDonald, Mark Vanilau, Mike Fabulous, Nigel Patterson and Ryan Prebble.
This stellar cast will perform all the fan favourites as well as songs from the latest Fly My Pretties album, The Homeland Recordings. Released on 29 November 2013, The Homeland Recordings is a collection of the best live takes from their recent Homeland Tour, which saw them traverse from the top to the bottom of Aotearoa on a 20-date, 18 town tour. The album seems Fly My Pretties hark back to their musical roots, an unashamedly kiwi sound stepped in folk, roots, soul and rock.
