Festival Featuring Local & UK Talent

Next week's festival ignite03 based at the Aotea Centre is a working partnership between The Edge and British Council New Zealand, and involves day-long workshops and forums for schools, and a wide range of public performances.

Highlights include:

The Sons of Charlie Paora The return of London writer-actor Lennie James' moving drama, based on time spent previously in South Auckland; presented by Massive Company and directed by Sam Scott. Herald Theatre, April 7-11, 8pm.

Carmen to our place with NBR NZ Opera Senior secondary school students with the help of the opera company's emerging artists programme interpret Bizet's classic. Goodman Fielder Room, Aotea Centre, April 7-10, 9.30am-4pm.

Exploding the Page - Stage 2 with Playmarket Series of writers delve into the craft of scriptwriting, with Mitch Tawhi, Sonal Patel, Kathryn van Beek, Gabe McDonnell. Kaikoura Room, Aotea Centre, April 7-11, 9.30am-4pm.

Malika Booker & Benji Reid Poet Booker and performance artist Reid are two UK acts not to be missed if you thrive on passion, humour, hip hop and improv. Concert Chamber, Auckland Town Hall, April 11, 8pm.

Aotearoa Hip Hop Programme Hip-hop culture explored through workshop and seminar sessions; with Askew, DJ Sir-Vere and Ali Toto. Great Hall and breakout spaces, Auckland Town Hall, April 8, 9.30am-5pm.
