09 September 2009 - 0 Comments

The Smokefreerockquest 2009 National Final to be held at The Powerstation, Auckland on Saturday 19 September.

Six top notch finalists will battle it out at Auckland’s iconic rock venue The Powerstation on Saturday 19 September to see who will win the Smokefreerockquest 2009 National Final.

This year’s finalists represent a variety of musical genres, including indie pop band Hudson and the Rocketships (from Botany Downs Secondary College, Auckland); rock bands The Seed (from Hamilton Christian School, Fairfield College and Hamilton's Fraser High School in Hamilton) and A Few Words From Dave (from Mt Maunganui College, Tauranga); singer-songwriters Jayme Fitzgerald (Tauhara College, Taupo) and The Jesse Sheehan (from Wellington College); and ambient dance three-piece These Dancing Wolves (from Timaru Boys' High School).

The winner is set to receive musical equipment from NZ Rockshops to the value of $10,000, The Edge Airplay Award with NZ On Air where their music and video will be recorded at York Street Studios and guaranteed airplay, plus a promotional package from myspace.com.

The National Final will be hosted by C4’s Drew Neemia and Elemeno P lead singer Dave Gibson. As well as performances by the finalists on the night, guest bands and previous Smokefreerockquest participants Bang! Bang! Eche! and Kingston are also set to entertain the crowd.

The final is an All Ages event. Tickets are $20 from Ticketmaster and will also be available on the night at the door.

For those are unable to attend the National Final in Auckland, C4 will be screening a one-hour special covering the event on Saturday 26 September. Half hour specials from the regional finals will also screen on C4 throughout September.
