Dux de Lux Roundup, Decknology, Best Demo Competition 2009

30 July 2009 - 0 Comments

ROUNDUP2009

Like the rage of Godzilla or the cunning of Kong, RounDUp grows in power with every passing year. This beast of a band competition is open to all brave enough to face their fears and join the ranks of past RounDUp warriors including The Klap, The Tiger Tones, Bang! Bang! Eche!, Slipstream and The Undercurrents, Shapeshifter, The O’Lovelies, The Deceivers, The Insurgents, Heavy Jones Trio and P Bass Expressway.

WHO WILL CONQUER THE BEAST THIS YEAR?

The Christchurch live music scene is thriving, with over 500 bands currently listed on the CHART (www.christchurchmusic.org.nz) website. RoundUp is a tangible example of RDU’s commitment to developing locally produced, original music and sharing it with the wider New Zealand music industry. RDU is stoked to be collaborating with Christchurch’s key music industry partners to provide the winning band with the opportunity to get their career as a band rolling.

RounDUp 2008 showed just how necessary a competition like this is with over 50 original bands entering.

Enter at the Dux de Lux, Hunters and Collectors or via www.rdu.org.nz

DECKNOLOGY

Running concurrently with the Roundup band competition, we will be Decknology, Christchurch’s premiere DJ competition. RDU’s Decknology was designed to provide up and coming DJs and Producers experience and exposure in the live mix environment and to find the best damn mixer in the Garden City. Decknology 2009 rolls out a series of heats then a number of genre bending category finals. Winners of each category final then compete for the title of “Decknology Grand Champion 2009”.

Past DJ competitions RDU has run have garnered a staggering number of entrants (35 entrants in one category alone). It is anticipated that more than 100 DJs (bedroom and experienced alike) will enter this year’s competition. Here at RDU we say - bring the noise!

BEST DEMO

RDU is pleased to announce a new competition for 2009 to showcase the best produced track or song.

Entries will be judged on the overall sound quality and production values and will give consideration to composition. The winner must be part of the production, but is not limited to playing a single role ie: composer and engineer. Best Demo is NOT genre specific and proudly presented by Redbull for 2009.

VENUE

The Dux de Lux winner of the New Zealand Bar of the Year Award for 2006 and 2008, has long been and is still, Christchurch’s leading showcase for contemporary New Zealand music featuring a weekly line up of new music every week. Located in central Christchurch, RounDUp and Decknology 2009 will take over the entire 2500 person capacity complex and entertain our neighbourhood with Christchurch’s freshest music.
