Miller Yule Reveals Video For Latest Single 'Dynamite'

New Zealand singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Miller Yule turns up the heat with his searingly honest new single Dynamite, a cracking love song from this rising Americana pop-rock artist.

The story of Dynamite and the video starts pre-pandemic, a few weeks before the world changed and everywhere went into lockdown. Accompanied by a beautifully shot video filmed in the scorching conditions of the Mojave Desert, and under the blazing neon lights of Las Vegas, Dynamite fully encapsulates the excitement, freedom, and exuberance of being in love.

A completely spontaneous decision, there was little planned for the shoot, other than the bare bones of the desired look and feel for the video. Says Miller, “I was speaking with director Shae Sterling on a Thursday about what we should do for the Dynamite video…a few days later, on the Monday, we packed our bags and flew to Las Vegas!” From there they hired a classic car, a classic SG guitar and found Emma-Kate Putnam, a Kiwi dancer working in L.A. to bring the energy to the video.

Once back in NZ, a week later the country went into full lockdown. Reflects Miller, “It’s been a long journey to get to this point, navigating music, life and the pandemic. I’m so glad we took this spur of the moment opportunity, otherwise we would have missed our chance to film this great video!”

As the opening track of the new album, Let It Burn, Dynamite lights the fuse and explodes into Miller’s up-coming body of work that perfectly captures his continuing development into a musically and lyrically strong, contemporary songwriter.

Whether it’s a soft acoustic ballad or an in your face, hard-hitting rock banger, Miller’s keeping the classic troubadour 'Heartbreak Rock' flame burning bright. His songs span across various genres, from pop-rock and acoustic-pop-folk to Americana and alt-country.

Following on from earlier singles off the new album Tangled UpLock Me Up and Evergreen, Miller’s work continues to demonstrate his ability to deliver strong hook-driven melodies, insightful and personal lyricism, a talent for excellent arrangements and musicality. All combining to create the heart-felt and enduring tune that is Dynamite, just one of ten stunning tracks off Let It Burn.

Recorded at Auckland’s Roundhead Studio A, with additional recording done at Big Pop Studios by Scott Seabright, Dynamite and the Let It Burn album was mixed by Clint Murphy at Roundmead Studios, UK, mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound Mastering, Nashville and produced by Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, Melanie C, OpShop).

With his debut album Let It Burn set to drop on Friday 30 September, Miller and his band will finally celebrate its long-awaited release with a party and show at Galatos on Friday 14 October. Tickets on sale now from galatos.co.nz
