Music News - Drax Project Announce 'Diamond' EP Release Party

Drax Project Announce 'Diamond' EP Release Party

23 June 2022 - 0 Comments

On the back of announcing their new EP Diamond yesterday, Drax Project are stoked to announce they will bring it to life in Tāmaki Makaurau this July, playing a one-off release party at Avondale’s Hollywood Theatre. The party will take place on Friday July 8, the same day Diamond is released.

As the world eases back into life, Drax Project are easing back into music with their EP Diamond. The last two years have been a reset for everyone, Drax Project included. For this EP, they decided to put out a collection of songs they themselves love to play live. Diamond features fan favourites Hollywood and Fashion Sense alongside songs the boys wanted to record in studio after playing them live for years. Fans can expect to hear these new songs played live along with the Drax Project hits that we all know and love as the band ramp back into playing live for their fans.

It has been over a year since Drax Project last headlined a performance in Auckland and anybody who has seen them live knows that the stage is where Drax Project shine. This release party promises to be no different with the Hollywood Avondale providing the perfect intimate space for Drax to party with 500 of their closest mates.

Beginning as music students busking on the streets, Drax Project have grown into one of the most watched groups ever to come out of New Zealand. Through their own headline tours, international festival performances and opening for the likes of Ed Sheeran, Christina Aguilera, Lorde, Six60 and Camila Cabello, the band have established themselves as one of the world’s ‘must see’ live acts.

Drax Project can boast close to half a billion streams worldwide. Locally they have a whopping, 24 x Platinum certifications to their name. Across the pond, they have the most Platinum certifications of any New Zealand band in Australia with seven Platinum certifications to their name, add to this a Gold record in America and it’s no wonder Drax Project are adored the world over.

Also celebrating their EP release on the same day is must see opening act Aacacia. Having recently taken out the #1 spot on the Official New Zealand Hot Singles Chart with her sultry pop number Home Away From Home Aacacia got her break after she entered a competition to sing with Drax Project at Rhythm and Vines in 2019. It was a dream come true for Aacacia who has now played on the biggest stages in New Zealand at Six60 Saturdays, Sky Stadium and Eden Park and RnV, featured on Drax Project’s single Firefly with Fetty Wap, all the while cementing herself as one of Aotearoa’s brightest new talents.

Her latest single Move Boy is out now and fans can expect to hear Aacacia’s dynamite vocals and high energy live show this July.

Tickets go on sale midday Monday 27 June from moshtix.co.nz. Fans are encouraged to get in quick as tickets won't last long.
