La Coco is back, unveiling her newest single, Gone, a romantically ethereal and heartbreaking ode to the space left behind after someone has gone. The track features backing vocals by Freedom Setu and beats by Malachi Samulelu (M4).
"Letting go of something or someone is a hard thing to do, especially when it is who or what you love most", says La Coco about the inspiration behind the track. "To move on with life without them present is hard, and the space they used to fill stays vacant long after they have gone.
"Memories keep them alive in your mind, the dreams of them returning keep you awake at night. It is never an easy thing to let go".
La Coco is a prominent Samoan/Maori artist from Mangere, South Auckland, renowned for her thick soul sound and musicianship, which has seen her nominated for a Pacific Music Award, and winning best RnB album for her work on Grateful at the Waiata Maori Music Awards in 2021. Her upcoming EP, Too Far Gone, is due for release later in the year.
