Music streaming service Moodagent launches in New Zealand to reinvent the music streaming experience

21 July 2021 - 0 Comments

Moodagent, a personalised music streaming service with innovative recommendation and discovery features launches today in New Zealand. Harnessing patented AI technology to personalise the listening experience, the app gives music fans a new way to discover artists, and artists new ways to reach fans.

Moodagent’s user-centric features put the listener back in control. Intuitive playlist curation allows listeners to use moods, songs or artists to start a deeper discovery experience, then fine-tune a playlist with interactivity that delivers the right track, at the right time.

Music Made Personal

Where other streaming services offer personal recommendations based on prior listening, editorial selections or the current charts, Moodagent approaches listening differently.

Moodagent’s patented technology combines machine learning, audio analysis and tens of thousands of hours of human musicology. By analysing key characteristics in songs, including emotions, moods, genres, instruments, vocal styles, and more, Moodagent is able to understand music and curate personal experiences for its users.

“With Moodagent, you can initiate a music experience with something you like, be it a track or a mood,” says Mikael Henderson, Chief Product Officer and co-founder of Moodagent. “You can then reactivate that specific moodagent at any time and either let it play or adapt it.”

Peter Berg Steffensen, Chief Innovation Officer and co-founder of Moodagent says: “Moodagent is recreating what albums used to provide, an order, the right tracks in the right sequence, but presented in a way that matches the mood of the listener while giving them complete control.”

Music To Suit Your Mood

“We’re excited to bring Moodagent to kiwis so soon after our Australian launch. Aotearoa’s music scene is thriving and the opportunity to bring Moodagent’s unique proposition to the market means more choice for fans and more opportunities for artists,” says Tom Mee, General Manager of Australia & New Zealand.

Moodagent’s interactive playlists, or “moodagents”, are created by adding a song or artist, which is then matched with songs similar in sound and feel, their musical style and qualities. If a playlist is not quite right for the moment, users can adjust a set of moodsliders – Sensual, Tender, Happy, Angry, Tempo – and watch as their playlist instantly adapts. Each moodagent is still based on personal taste and with the user in control.

Moodagent users will also find a library for offline listening, options for social sharing, and sections with editorial recommendations and pre-built playlists for inspiration.

Moodagent is now available via mobile from Apple App Store and Google Play for $14.99 a month – always free of advertising. A fully functional, time-restricted free trial of Moodagent’s premium service is available when signing up. For more information head to moodagent.com

Moodagent Sets Up Local Sydney Office

The launch into New Zealand follows a recent expansion to Australia and is part of Moodagent’s push into Asia Pacific following success in Europe. Tom Mee, General Manager of ANZ, will be leading local operations. Mee was formerly Head of Artist and Label Marketing ANZ at Spotify with prior stints at major record labels Universal Music Australia and Warner Music Australia.

Mee will lead a team based in Australia, with a focus on driving the local product experience via localised marketing, editorial/curation and working closely with the music industry. Other recent hires include Director of Music and Editorial Toni Pipicelli and Regional Marketing Director Bushra Abel.
