The Tiz Announce Debut Single 'Jamaican Rum'

23 January 2021 - 0 Comments

After two years of touring the country with New Zealand rock band Serious Happiness, Taranaki musician Kayleb Duckett has made the leap to solo musician with his new home recording project The Tiz.

Jamaican Rum is set to be the very first single released by The Tiz, recorded entirely at home in Duckett's bedroom recording studio, the track is a colourful concoction of rockabilly rhythms, retro-futuristic synthesizers and lush three-part harmonies. Enlisting the help of drummer Jack Fish and backing vocals from Olivia Day, The Tiz creates a strange but familiar sound on Jamaican Rum almost as if country music and psych rock had a baby.

“It’s a song about a dysfunctional relationship, although I didn't realise that when I was writing it.” - The Tiz.

Jamaican Rum will be available on all streaming platforms from February 19.
