To Celebrate Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori New Zealand Maori metal champions Alien Weaponry have shared video on social media from their Auckland Town Hall show filmed earlier in the year.
This comes in two flavours:
"WARNING ... there is a ton of Maori in the English version too" says the band on their Facebook page.
"This is also the very last show we did with our old bassist Ethan" says drummer Henry de Jong "so we know its going to be pretty popular with fans".
The band recently added a new member to their line-up with Ethan Trembath retiring from the band for personal and family reasons. He is replaced by long time friend Turanga Morgan-Edmonds.
"We originally aired this live video as part of the Metal Alliance online Festival in Europe where they were asked to be one of the headline bands representing Metal Days Festival" says guitarist/singer Lewis de Jong "and we want to acknowledge Te Mangai Paho for helping us get it all together"
The Metal Alliance Festival spanned a whole weekend in August and was a calibration between 13 independent music festivals for Europe and the UK. This performance was also Alien Weaponry's last show before New Zealand went Covid-19 lockdown.
"It's amazing how into it our European and American fans are" says Henry "It's heartwarming too to se that New Zealand is now embracing Te Reo Māori more than ever and we are stoked to be a small part of this momentum"
