Six60: Till The Lights Go Out, In Cinemas October 8

Notable Pictures, in association with UMusic, are pleased to confirm October 8, 2020 as the official release date for ‘Six60: Till the Lights Go Out’, this year’s must-see big-screen event.

Directed by Julia Parnell (The Chills: The Triumph and Tragedy of Martin Phillipps, Anthems) and produced by Notable Pictures in association with the New Zealand Film Commission and NZ On Air, the documentary reveals the story of Six60, a group who harnessed the fighting spirit of the rugby field to achieve unrivalled musical domination in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

“Any preconceived ideas I had of Six60 were completely changed in the process of making this movie. Their stubbornness to achieve, whilst confounding critics and disproving experts, has virtually redefined what success looks like in New Zealand.” – Julia Parnell, Director.

Emerging as a student band to drop their first recordings on Facebook, within a year Six60 were winning awards and confounding the music industry with their unprecedented ascent. Then, in 2019, Matiu Walters, Ji Fraser, Eli Paewai, Marlon Gerbes and Chris Mac defied all convention when they attempted to be the first-ever New Zealand band to headline a concert at Western Springs Stadium. With dramatic ups and downs, their incredible untold story will shock even the band’s most ardent followers.

“If your goal is to play at the pub down the road, then you’re only ever gonna play at the pub down the road. So if you’re gonna make goals, they better be bigger goals than anyone’s ever achieved” – Matiu Walters, Six60 lead singer.

Woven with stunning vision of their record-breaking stadium concert, a unique Kiwi sense of humour, and never before seen footage of the band as students in Dunedin, ‘Six60: Till the Lights Go Out’ reveals a group of men confronting the true cost of never giving up.
