Goodwill Goodwill
Goodwill is the solo project of producer and artist Will McGillivray. Previously of chart topping, award nominated band nomad, Will cut his teeth touring overseas and playing major NZ festivals. Following the break up of nomad, hunkered down in his Christchurch home studio, Goodwill is now endeavoring on a darker musical path.

Leaning into a love of dissonant guitars, droning analog synths, grainy lo-fi and longing melody, Goodwill’s recent musical venture is introspective and cathartic. Following the release debut EP Incontrol featuring Get Angry, Getting Better and Clinging Onto You, Goodwill’s sound has earned him a nomination for ‘Best New Artist’ at the Rolling Stone NZ Awards, multiple top 3 chart placements on the Hot NZ Singles chart, countless top spots on significant international Spotify editorial playlists, extensive radio play in New Zealand and Australia, an article in the August AU + NZ Rolling Stone Issue.

Will’s been busy with his live band of late, including supporting on a 14 date tour for Sir Dave Dobbyn.

Single Review: Sink or Swim Dead Favours - Single Review: Sink or Swim
29 Sep 2022 // by Kev Rowland
Just the opening few bars of their new single lets the listener know that Dead Favours are back, and yet again they mean business. Charlie sets up an intricate backbeat, Kyle and Jared have their guitars in sync, and at the heart of it all is a filthy bassline with Alex providing melodies and countermelodies, so one is brought into the music long before Jared even starts singing!

Single Review: I Talk Too Much Impostor Syndrome - Single Review: I Talk Too Much
29 Sep 2022 // by Kev Rowland
Here we have the latest single from Auckland trio Imposter Syndrome, which is based strongly on a riffed acoustic guitar (the sound of which is superb, congrats whoever engineered this), with vocals over the top. Due to its nature this has plenty of space within the arrangements as even when additional instruments are added they are sparse, so the concentration is always on the voice and the guitar.
