Maggie Rogers Announces New Zealand Tour Date for June 2019

Acclaimed US producer-songwriter-performer Maggie Rogers has announced her first ever New Zealand show on her Heard It in a Past Life world tour, playing Auckland’s The Powerstation on Saturday 1 June.

Yoko-Zuna Yoko-Zuna
Formed out of the ashes from one of Auckland’s most musically-creative hubs, Yoko-Zuna have established themselves as one of the most exciting bands in New Zealand. With their combination of unique electronic and hip-hop compositions, and a live show which is rarely bettered, Yoko-Zuna is an act with talent to burn.

With the release of their debut album, This Place Here, in 2015, Yoko-Zuna announced themselves to the greater music scene with an album showcasing a sound which hasn’t been previously seen in NZ – sub-electronic frequencies, melodic moments, and immense bass-synth-fuelled drops. The album combined Yoko-Zuna’s unique instrumental sound with some of the country’s most talented vocalists including David Dallas, Bailey Wiley and Team Dynamite, and in turn created a huge queue of willing collaborators.

Not willing to rest on their laurels, May 2016 saw Yoko-Zuna release the Luminols EP, 5 tracks which not only continues to fulfil the promise of their amazing live shows, but also show new depth and versatility to the band’s song-writing abilities. Featuring some of NZ’s biggest vocalists in P Digsss, Laughton Kora and Tom Scott, along with the fresh talents of Lukan Raisey, Heavy and Larzranda, the EP shows a band infusing the genres of electronic/hip-hop with their own inimitable sound.

11 Nov 2018 // by Alex Moulton
It was looking to be a late night at Ding Dong Lounge with the 8:30 start time being pushed back to 9, then being pushed back even further as they waited for the patrons to make their way upstairs. 11 Nov 2018 // by Jessie Armstrong
The opening track from Anxiety Club's new EP is titled Holes In My Skin, and within an instant I was in love with it and felt a connection from the first line “when the lights went out I said to myself I will never be here again”. Who among us hasn’t felt like that at some point?

Album Review: Love & Migration Tali - Album Review: Love & Migration
11 Nov 2018 // by Jeremy Graham
Tali releases her first full length Drum n Bass album since 2011’s Dark Days, High Nights, firmly planted on a label fans will undoubtedly know as synonymous with all things Soulful and Deep; Fokuz Recordings via Rotterdam, Netherlands. The “Liquid” Drum n Bass genre has become seemingly instilled with a certain genericism over the past few years; drum tracks often sounding like they’ve been plucked from the same static “sample pack of the moment”, and arrangements & instrumentation rarely taper off into unknown territory.
