Less than 12 months after the release of their second album, L.A.B. return with L.A.B. III, their third album in three years. The band return with their most cohesive effort yet, combining their unique funk/soul/dub sound in a third chapter from one of NZ’s most exciting live acts.

As with each previous release, III has been recorded at Wellington’s Surgery Studios with producer Dr Lee Prebble, an integral part in crafting the in-studio sound of L.A.B.. Another rigorous writing and recording schedule saw L.A.B. spending 24/7 in studio writing, recording and mixing, in amongst festival performances and tours across NZ.

Across 10 tracks, III shows an act growing more comfortable in their sound, and further creating a sound that is uniquely L.A.B.. The album opens with delicate keys from former-studio collaborator and now full-time member Miharo Gregory, before kicking in with a monster riff from frontman Joel Shadbolt, with Personify signalling the direction for the coming 40 minutes. Tracks like What The Hell and All I Know show the guitar interplay between Shadbolt and Stu Kora showing off the heavy rock roots on the band.

L.A.B. III is the latest installment from one of NZ’s hardest working bands, and is their most confident yet. 10 tracks from a band who have fast become a live favourite across Australasia, and are set for another massive year.
