Splore invites people to turn up and unleash their creativity

15 November 2019 - 0 Comments

On 21-23 February, Splore-goers will once again find a glimpse of eutopia as the festival attracts and gathers a mindful and inspirational mix of people to enjoy the music, performance, art and more!

With all the style and class of a mature adult, Splore Festival, turning 21 in 2020, has released an eclectic programme staged over eight zones. The festival is bursting with music, performance, art, wellness and kid’s entertainment to treat the crowds in its stunning beachside home, Auckland’s Tapapakanga Regional Park.

Down to the last few hundred tickets, Splore proves that its’ family friendly and inclusive happy vibes that are in hot demand.

Music added to the programme includes Aotearoa’s pre-eminent music collective Fly My Pretties who will perform Splore for the first time, off the back of recent, intensive studio recordings.

Other local live acts joining them will be classic hip hop from Che Fu and King Kapisi’s Hedlok; Maori electronic dub from Paddy Free and Moana Maniapoto’s Tu project; Ed Zuccollo’s new 3-piece Kita; fast rising and critically acclaimed singer Rei; and charismatic 70’s-style blues and rock band Mini Simmonds.

From overseas, two influential UK party and radio movers and shakers, Touching Bass and Andrew Thomson of Huntleys + Palmers will bring their soul heft to Aotearoa for the first time. They will be joined by German techno DJ’s Mad Motor Miguel and Ester Silex plus Australia’s House music don, J NETT and life-long crate digger Boogie Monster.

Adding to the local DJ line up will be Frank Booker, Logg Cabin, 121 Soundsystem, Peach Milk, Benny Salvador, Hudge, Awb, Mr Big Stuff, Cian, Murray Sweetpants, Takas, Mac Mylo and Jamie Newman.

Performers drive diversity at Splore and the Saturday night curated cabaret spurred the tradition for the audience to dress up and become part of the entertainment. The performance zone, known as the Living Lounge, hosts an outrageous, hilarious, unpredictable Saturday night cabaret but there is so much more to the performance programme during the weekend.

Splore is delighted to announce South Auckland performance group Coven. One of New Zealand’s largest vogue/ballroom houses, Coven vow to bring a show unlike anything Splore has ever seen. Promising ritualistic activation, vogueing, burlesque and drag, they guarantee a party vibe that will carry you high for the rest of the night.

Auckland’s circus school, Flip ‘n’ Fly will bring a family-friendly show to the Living lounge with their next generation of Cirque du Soleil circus stars. The Living Lounge is where people go to be amazed and inspired!

There will also be a full feast of performers roaming across the festival, all weekend.
