Oh Sweet Nothings announces the release of their debut EP, 'Emergency Procedures'

19 September 2019 - 0 Comments

Wellington-based indie/post-alternative/post-post-punk 3-sometimes-4-piece band Oh Sweet Nothings is thrilled to announce their debut EP Emergency Procedures, available on all digital streaming and download platforms on October 17th.

Known for their whimsical and off-kilter approach to song-writing as well as their erratic live performances, OSN are currently on the rise up out of obscurity and fast becoming prominent members of the Wellington underground scene, having played almost every venue in the city, put on various DIY flat gigs and recently performed a 4-song set on Wellington's RadioActive FM.

Largely self-produced and entirely self-released, Emergency Procedures is the result of refining 4 years of chaotic bedroom jam sessions into a coherent sneak peak into a surreal auditory world, inhabited by dark truths and repressed desires.

“The name alludes to the deep need to have some sort of procedure for dealing with feelings of desperation, frustration, apathy etc. that all of us feel to some degree in today’s post-post-modern world. We deeply appreciate music that validates our own disillusion with society, with adulthood, with quote-unquote love, and that provides a means to safely express what otherwise gets bottled up inside, and numbs us to the joys of being alive… Emergency Procedures is our first endeavor to delineate our own expression of that.”

The lead single Maraca Attacker will be released October 3rd in the lead up to the release. The single release will coincide with a performance at Moon Bar, Newtown featuring support from local garage rock act Dartz. The EP release itself will also be followed by a show at Valhalla, with supporting acts Plaines and GingerKiss.

The EP is a precursor to the band’s full-length album, which is likely to be released mid-2020. “We recorded both the EP and the album more or less simultaneously, which has been a hectic effort, but it has made it easier to see where each song belongs…”

After the release shows, the band plans to do an Emergency Procedures tour of the North Island this summer to support the EP, hitting Auckland, Tauranga, Wanganui and Wellington.

Upcoming Shows:

Thursday 3rd October - Moon Bar /w Dartz
Thursday 17th October - Valhalla /w Plaines and GingerKiss
Thursday 8th November - Third Eye
