The Bullrush Bonanza Extravaganza – A NZ Music Month Spectacular For The Whole Family

16 April 2019 - 0 Comments

Join us at The Winchester Club, Eden Terrace on Sunday May 19th for a celebration of family music in NZ Music Month.

It’s a truly all-ages New Zealand music bonanza, with three of the country’s most dynamic family acts under one roof for an epic show.

Performers:

Levity Beet

Flying in from Takaka is three-time APRA NZ children’s song of the year winner and 2018 Tui Children’s Musician of the Year, Levity Beet. Levity is well known for dynamic and humorous performances, and wows audiences with new musical inventions, playing instruments he makes from heaters, air bed pumps, tyre valves and anything imaginable.

Mr. Beet has produced 6 albums and a cd/songbook, and produces music for ‘Darwin and Newts’, which you can view on TV2 and Hei Hei TV. Levity also teaches kids the ukulele, guitar, songwriting and mentors young bands.

Mr Roberelli

Mr Roberelli is actually two people: Rob Wigley and Paul Depledge, whose interactive and humorous live show gets children (and parents) bouncing, listening quietly for details, singing "really high", tiptoeing past the bull, moving like macho ballerinas, and much more. If you're lucky enough to catch a live performance, you'll be seeking out one – or all – of their eight albums.

Captain Festus McBoyle’s Travellin’ Variety Show

From the ashes of a non-illustrious 25-year Rock n’ Roll career comes the unwashed, semi toothed and slightly uncouth Piratical ‘cheese’ Captain Festus McBoyle. With cheeky humour and the sharpened hooks of his songs, The Captain is joined on stage by Miss Lucy Drawers and Ebeneza Strong. Together, they are more fun than a squirrel up ya jumper!

Regularly compared to Monty Python and Spike Milligan, this much-loved Vaudeville Musical Comedy Troupe transcend age and culture with ease, and their almost ‘Punk Rock’ ethos will whisk you away on a first-class voyage to sample their weird and wonderful world.

The Ultimate Rotten Entertainers… an act not to be missed!

*Update* The song 'The Little Things' by Captain Festus McBoyle and his Travellin' Variety Show has made it into the finals of the International Songwriting Competition in the Children's Music category.

Plus their brand new album Bubbles and Squeek comes out on April 26th so you can grab it at the show. Here's a sneak peek at the cover.
Can you spot the spelling mistake?

Yes that's it - 'Captain' has been spelled as 'Captian'.

Cover artist Elliot Stewart is dyslexic, so instead of asking him to correct the spelling, Festus McBoyle and his crew thought it was perfect just the way it was. Because after all, who is perfect anyway? The Dyslexia Foundation of New Zealand have given them the nod - it's a nice way of raising awareness of the condition.

Kiwi Kids Disco tunes by Lee from 95 BFM Kids Show

Hosted by Lee, the 95bFM Kids' Show has been running since forever ago. Lee has been involved with bFM on and off since 1995 and has two kids of his own to try out his bad jokes and other fatherly material on before he subjects the audience to it.
