Loop and Cosmic present the AHoriBuzz Wha-Cup and Have A Hoon Tour

07 June 2012 - 0 Comments

It’s starting to get chilly so AHoriBuzz have decided to warm things up with some choice back to back shows in Queenstown, Christchurch and Wellington this June!

First up, the core AHoriBuzz band of Aaron Tokona, LA Mitchell, Riki Gooch and Hori will be playing in Queenstown at The World Bar for the inaugural “WinterSounds” gig on Thursday 28 June. The show will feature the buzz, alongside Hollie Smith, Olmecha Supreme, Downtown Brown, DJ Sir-Vere and the George FM Drive show.

Following that, they’ll head up the road to Christchurch to kick out some jams at the Dux Live on Friday 29 June. Supporting them will be local high-energy soul/dub act, Soulsystem and the Loop Soundsystem who will be dropping 100% kiwi jams!

Having not played Wellington since their epic set at Homegrown, AHoriBuzz’s last show of the tour at the San Francisco Bathhouse on Saturday 30 June is a much-awaited return. The core 4-piece will be joined by some tu meke cuzzies including a multitude of guest vocalists, brass and percussions players – stay tuned for updates. Playing support is up-and-coming soul powerhouse Aio Aotearoa from Porirua and Christchurch’s Soulsystem.

Limited early buzz tickets for the Christchurch and Wellington shows are available online from Cosmic and the first 50 through the door at both Christchurch and Wellington shows will receive a free “Cosmic Compilation” CD featuring AHoriBuzz, Electric Wire Hustle, OG and many more!

The brainchild of the enigmatic Aaron Tokona (Cairo Knife Fight/Weta), AHoriBuzz is a jam band of sorts and the line up for the tour will feature Aaron leading the outfit on vocals, MPC and guitar, Riki Gooch on drums, soul sister LA Mitchell on keys and vocals, Aaron’s cousin Hori on bass.

Playing almost every major festival in Aotearoa this summer and blowing away a slew of unsuspecting crowds, AHoriBuzz have got chins wagging about their inconceivable live shows and mongrel of a sound which blends psychedelic rock, disco and funk into a beast of its own.
