Gig & Concert News - Ed Sheeran Announces First Ever New Zealand Show!

Ed Sheeran Announces First Ever New Zealand Show!

19 April 2012 - 1 Comment

The Frontier Touring Company is excited to announce Ed Sheeran’s first run of headline shows in Australia and New Zealand!

Sheeran’s unique amalgamation of acoustic music, folk and hip hop beats has earned the red-haired performer fans across the world in an impressive period of time.

Since dropping out of school at the age of 16, Sheeran has gigged persistently. In 2009 alone, he performed an incredible 312 gigs throughout the UK and Ireland.

This perseveranceand determination also translates into Sheeran’s prolific songwriting. The industrious songwriter wrote his first EP at the ripe age of 14 with more following before the release of his debut studio album, +(out now through Warner).

Released in 2011, + propelled Sheeran to the eyes and ears of the mainstream who fell in love with the performer’s soulful voice and innate ability to write from the heart.

“Throughout this marvellous album you can suss what the fuss is all about: Sheeran upends the singer-songwriter aesthetic by injecting an equal parts hyperkinetic and silver-tongued delivery that embraces white-boy hip-hop” – Irish Times

The album has produced three incredible singles, including ‘You Need Me, I Don’t Need You’, ‘Lego House’ and the 3x Platinum ARIA selling debut single ‘The A Team’.

“The song is a dark yet overwhelmingly tuneful slice of jazz-folk. Built on palm-muted guitars and a simmering string arrangement... Sheeran has an unflinching eye for subtle details and colorful imagery, and his music is full of soulful vocal runs and patient atmosphere.” – Billboard.com

A credit to his large and devoted online fan base, Sheeran’s YouTube channel has an impressive 196,000 subscribers who have racked up more than 96 million views to his music videos, tour diaries and exclusive performances.

It is no surprise that Sheeran has also received acclaim from some of the most prestigious and well respected members of the music community.

In the formative stages of his career, Sheeran came to the attention of singer and producer Jamie Foxx and was invited by Foxx to perform in LA. Sheeran later secured a deal with Elton John’s management company and supported Example on his UK tour.

At the age of 21, Sheeran has achieved what many performers could hope to achieve in a lifetime. This is clearly just the beginning for this committed and talented performer. Don’t miss the opportunity to witness the magic live when Ed Sheeran visits Australia and New Zealand this July.
