Gig & Concert News - Foo Fighters Auckland concert sells out and support acts announced!

19 March 2011 - 0 Comments

At 9am yesterday tickets for the Foo Fighters concert at the Auckland Town Hall next Tuesday sold out and, in doing so, caused the venues ticket and phone system to melt down!

There are no further tickets available for their Christchurch Earthquake Relief concert. All profits from this show will go directly to the NZ government’s Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.

Cairo Knife Fight and
The Transistors
to play with Foo Fighters next week!

Christchurch acts Cairo Knife Fight and The Transistors have been selected to open for Foo Fighters at their Christchurch Earthquake Appeal concert at the AucklandTown Hall next Tuesday.

The last 6 months have been great performance wise for Christchurch based duo Cairo Knife Fight, just not so great on the home front.  Dates in the States, Australia and some select NZ shows have been highlights during what has otherwise been a difficult few months for Christchurch residents such as themselves.  Since the September and now the February earthquakes, life has been less than normal and Cairo Knife Fights’ focus has been on the immediate aftermath and daily struggles the people of Christchurch are now faced with.

And now that power has finally been restored to their practice rooms, the band is ready to put down their spades and wheelbarrows and plug in the amps to start rehearsing for the Foo Fighters Auckland show next Tuesday.

Plans for the future, now that their houses are back in some kind of order, are to get back into song-writing mode before heading to the studio to start recording their next EP in May.  Meanwhile they will see you at the Foo Fighters next week.

The Transistors are a three piece band from Christchurch who met in High School and play fast energetic power-pop. “We're really excited to play this show. There are no venues operating in Christchurch so it's been weeks since we've played. We're finishing our second album right now and we're reveling in the luxury of taking more than 20 minutes to record this one. The basic tracks were recorded on a farm in North Canterbury just before the September quake. This is going to be an awesome show and we're really stoked that it's happening”.
