Christchurch, New Zealand’s four-piece band Lunar Intruder’s much-anticipated 11 track debut album, Smokechasers is out today worldwide.

The album kicks off with the lead single Twice Shy, a beautiful mix of instruments that sets the album's tone. Twice Shy explores leaving the past behind and facing life's challenges head-on, fittingly introducing the album's coming-of-age narrative. Other notable tracks include Crows Feet, featuring local alt-rock band This Dog, and Left Behind, featuring “local gal next door,” Honey for Jupiter.

The album also features a melancholic music video of their single House directed by Amber Beaton. Gifting a reverb-kissed embrace akin to shoegaze but with an overall brightness and clear passion to the build-up and leading vocal, House feels like a timeless classic as it pours through - the sentiments and melodies intertwining beautifully to bring forth a fine balance between the deeply personal and the broadly relatable.

Sonically, the album remains true to what makes Lunar Intruder their own outfit, though the scale feels grander this time and portrays something more honest to what the band have previously released. Lead singer Cam says, “It feels like everything we have learned along the way through our previous EPs, and this album has been the statement we have been waiting for after all these years.”

Since dropping their debut single Suit Yourself in 2020, followed by their Moon Light EP (2022) and their two New Zealand tours, 'The Moonlight Tour' in 2022 and 'Good Dogs Go To Heaven Tour' in 2023, Lunar Intruder has been on the move, carving out a space for themselves in the local music scene. With a refreshing blend of fearless honesty and unwavering passion, the band has been stirring up attention both online and on stage throughout Aotearoa. Now, with the release of their highly-anticipated album 'Smokechasers,' they're set to make an even bigger splash. Keep an eye on Lunar Intruder - they're definitely a band to watch.
