Holding Space Aotearoa brings the world another step closer to the realisation of the global climate crisis with their second instalment of Songwriters 4 Climate Action.

LISTEN TO SW4CA VOL. 2 HERE

“We were looking for twelve Tāmaki Makaurau-based artists to contribute an original acoustic song with an environmental or climate conscious theme for our collaboration album” says Ema Barton, Holding Space Aotearoa Founder. “We’re blown away by the talent, variety of style and unique perspectives that these musicians have brought to this project”

SW4CA Vol. 2 was recorded over 3 days at Neil Finn’s legendary Auckland studio, Roundhead Studios, with seasoned engineer Matt Gunn taking on the recording, mixing and mastering. The list of featured artists for this volume are Britta Hamill, Mitch Murray, Keb Hart, Rupert Laffey, Manuela, -Loveray-, Shamus Crawford, Tony Bullen, Maggie Cocco, Nigel Russel, Street Georges and Jean Yern.

Join Holding Space Aotearoa and the SW4CA artists for a special album showcase on the 22nd February at The Flagship. Entry is free and details can be found here.

Special thanks to Waitematā Local Board for the support to make this happen.

Songwriters 4 Climate Action (SW4CA) is a Project intended to bring together community-based performers through a series of workshops and activities; to help support and inspire them to develop songs, artwork and start conversations that highlight the challenges and hopes for climate action. The collective recorded a compilation album SW4CA Vol.1 in 2022 and perform at local events including festivals, conferences, and markets. This project has expanded to promote the collaboration and response of artists to the work of Kaitiaki and other experts active in the Climate Field. Through this process we hope to support dialogue and connection between many communities, create art that moves culture and learn a thing or two along the way.
