Gig & Concert News - Na Noise Release 'Waiting For You'

Na Noise Release 'Waiting For You'

06 November 2020 - 0 Comments

Na Noise have shared a brand new single, Waiting For You; the opening and title-track of Na Noise's debut album. It was recorded between Yolanda Fagan's home studio, and Peter Ruddell's (Wax Chattels, Sulfate) studio on Karangahape Road in Auckland. Waiting For You conjures the cinematic excitement that one would find in the opening credits of a film, and features the perfectly exhilarating blend of call-and-response vocals, organ and percussion.

The band have also released details of their Waiting For You album release show on 21st of November at Whammy Bar, in Auckland — featuring good friends LEAO, and supergroup Hang Loose, plus super secret, super special featured cameos included on the night.

Waiting For You is Na Noise’s debut full-length, written and recorded over a span of nearly two years and gives the listener an insight in to the band’s unique sonic approaches. The first half of the album (AKA Side Sun) has immortalised their most current creations, which were recorded and mixed across Yolanda Fagan and Peter Ruddell’s (Wax Chattels, Sulfate) home studios. The second half (AKA Side Air) is a snapshot in time from the beginnings of Na Noise, with tracks laid down to tape at Fagan’s home studio and overdubs recorded at Earwig Studios with Darren McShane. Among many unheard tracks, the album features alternate original album versions of the 7” singles, Open The Door and Dance With Me that they recently released, thanks to a nationwide competition hosted by Holiday Records.

Na Noise are the Thelma and Louise of modern DIY guitar based music. The long-time collaborators Hariet Ellis and Yolanda Fagan (both having worked together on BOZO, Vincent H.L, Echo Ohs and Thee Crockettes) have a rascally take on traditional song — with their new-old songs, the band introduce a new-old sound. Joined by multi-instrumentalist Christopher Varnham who provides organ, drums and various other percussive elements, the three have cultivated a dark sound that is more carnivalesque than it is psychedelic.
