LINEUP:

LOGISTICS (HOSPITAL/UK)

Logistics grew up on a self prescribed musical diet, equal parts guitar based compositions from bands such as Rage Against The Machine and down tempo efforts from labels like Mo' Wax. Matt Logistics railed against the music his brother, Dan Nu:Tone would listen to and finally acquired a taste for Drum & Bass through the Full Cycle 'Music Box' LP. "That LP was like down tempo tunes with double time beats!" he explains "I'd always been into stuff like Mo' Wax and that album, particularly '11.55' by Roni Size & DJ Die had the same vibe that I could relate to."

Having a brother already signed up to Hospital didn't qualify Matt for an 'automatic in' and it wasn't until he sent Replay down to the office, swiftly followed by Fabio and Grooverider picking up on the tune, that he got his chance to work on his own album project. Having just left college this was a great opportunity for Logistics and he made the very best of it, working solidly on creating masterpieces in the form of Together, Spacejam, The Trip and Release The Pressure (the only previously released tune on the album) and bridging the gap between what until then had often been a lacklustre sub-genre; Liquid Funk and more exciting, dance floor orientated Drum & Bass. It's Logistics' influence that has been picked up by the major DJs in the scene such as Andy C and Friction, and his anthemic creations have contributed greatly to the modern Hospital sound.

The LP itself Now More Than Ever (released in winter 2005) is a hugely ambitious project, restraining no less than 24 speaker busting tunes beneath its calm exterior a double CD affair with CD1 'Now' offering a traditional Logistics sound while CD2 'More Than Ever' comes at you like a hungry Lion, simply and effectively looking to tear out your jugular with a deeper and rougher sound.

18 months on, having scooped Best Album at the 1xtra Bass awards for his debut album, Logistics dropped his second long player Reality Checkpoint. Rammed full of genre bending goodness it was heralded as a glimpse of the future with dubstep and electronica influences fusing together with the anthemic Logistics sound.

2008 saw the Luke Skywalker of the Future Sound Of Cambridge drop the massive track "Cosmonaut" and feature on several awesome collabs with Commix and brother Nu:Tone. Logistics' productions kept sub basses pounding throughout 2008.

Now locked away deep in the Degobah system making tracks, you won't have to wait long in to 2009 to experience which side of the force Logistics will be wielding...

CYANTIFIC (HOSPITAL / UK)

Magic Blaster!!

Our freelance Cyantists hail from the far flung reaches of South-West London. Award winning disk jockey Jon & twisted synth genius Matt have been making harsh tasty beats together since high school and were gathered up into the Hospital fold in summer 2002, after a tip off from High Contrast no less. A series of 12"s, remixes and compilation appearances helped to build their diehard underground fanbase.

In 2005 they released Don't Follow a storming fast soul classic which featured the vocal talents of the legendary Diane Charlemagne, this brought their sound to a new audience and has remained in the boxes of many A-list d&b jocks ever since.

It was 2006 which saw the release of their Debut LP Ghetto Blaster; an epic album of futuristic beats which won instant plaudits from both fans and critics alike and really marked Cyantific's place in D&B history. Remix work and extensive touring followed, with Jon taking his djing to a new level.

Recognised in march 2007 when Cyantific scooped the highly prized Best Breakthrough DJ award from BBC 1Xtra - It was apparent that Jon has some serious skills, and he's on a mission to spread the gospel according to Cyantific far and wide.

After Cyantific gave a mixing masterclass on Hospital Mix 6 it is now in 2009 and on Hospital Mix 7 that we grab a sneak of what they have been working on. "Empty Streets" & "Space Zombie" come straight from their studio bunker.

In a Strangely blurred area of South West London on Google maps, there are reports of tech, funk and breaks well above normal levels. In regular djing trips outside of the compound Cyantific has leaked more and more space age material. If you don't know by now, hold tight, the truth is out there, and it's coming to a dancefloor near you!

CAUSE 4 CONCERN

That every cause has an effect is common knowledge. For Optiv, Stuart, Mark and Tobie, the cause is drum & bass, and their effect is both indelible and undeniable.Known collectively as Cause 4 Concern, the crew came together back at the start of 1999, when Optiv and Tobie were affiliated with Aspect Records, and Mark and Stuart were working for Vinyl Distribution. A testament to their talent, it took only a few short months of collaborative creation before they scored their first signing – and not just to any old label – but the massive and seminal Moving Shadow. At the time they were known as nCode, but by July they had become Cause 4 Concern and started their own imprint label. The first 12” dropped that December, and secured the support of DJs Doc Scott, Fierce and Grooverider, amongst many others. Releases on respected labels Tru Playaz, Renegade Hardware, Moving Shadow and Timeless Recordings were to follow, and left little doubt that this was one crew to keep an eye on. Promoters right across the planet couldn’t help but pay attention, and consequently there aren’t many places C4C haven’t performed. Such was the success of Cause4Concern Recordings that 2001 saw the launch of sister label C4C Limited. Intended as an outlet for experimental tracks and remixes of previous C4C releases by other established artists, the imprint has so far seen input from producers Stakka & Skynet, Teebee, Matrix, Fierce and Rymetyme. By the end of the year, C4C had been nominated in the ‘ Best Newcomers’ category of the Knowledge Magazine Drum & Bass Awards. Impressing their peers as well as the press, demand for their product increased, resulting in releases on renowned labels BC Presents, Metro, Quarantine and Virus. This well deserved exposure expedited their inevitable ascent through the ranks of the Drum & Bass scene Recently reformed after a few years of inactivity, 2007 sees the formidable foursome known as Cause 4 Concern return to wreak havoc with their first full length album. Spread over five separate 12”s to be followed by a double CD, Pandemic picks up right where the lads left off – the leading edge of electronic music. All of the elements that made them one of the most exciting and entertaining production posses in drum ‘n’ bass remain intact, and are both refined and reinforced.

TREI

In the space of less than four short years, acclaimed DJ / Producer TREi has risen to the heights of New Zealand's flourishing Drum'n'Bass scene. Now, having caught the attention of the best Drum'n'Bass luminaries on earth, TREi is emerging as a global Drum'n'Bass force.

TREi's production talents match the mixing, with his music featuring regularly on the playlists of top Drum'n'Bass DJs including State of Mind, Bailey, Marky, Logistics, Black Sun Empire, Digital, Sigma, Klute, Friction and Andy C.

In 2006, TREi released his first 12” ’Catscratch‘/’Big Mouth’ on Random Recordings and since then has worked up a solid catalog of releases including the highly anticipated release of ‘Day Away’ on Black Sun Empire’s Obsessions Label and breakthrough track ‘Valium Express’ (w/Dose & Menace) on Commercial Suicide which featured in Andy C’s Cover mount CD for Mixmag’s December 2007 Edition.

Collaborations with the likes of State of Mind, The Upbeats, and Dose have also transpired over the past year, as well as numerous solo tracks due for release in the very near future.

Now with forthcoming releases on Critical Music, Shogun Ltd, Commercial Suicide, Samurai Music, Incite Recordings, Syntax Audio, Revolution Recordings and Marky’s Innerground all receiving huge support from some of the biggest names in Drum’n’Bass, along with big plans in the pipeline for 2008, TREi is set to launch his sound to a global level.
