Hollie Smith Heads North
Posted: Tue Feb 17, 2009 5:50 pm
While Smith has been taking it easier on the touring front lately, the soul songstress has certainly not been idling through life.

After a much needed hiatus, Hollie and the band have been slowly winding back into touring over the last month, offering up a string of taut sets that have rejuvenated her and reminded those in attendance that musicians of this quality are a rarity and a treasure. Her arrangement of the Herbs’ 1987 classic ‘Sensitive to a smile’ released in early summer on Light of the Pacific – The Very Best of Herbs is testament to this talent.

“It’s been a great summer hitting the road in a more relaxed way and playing less shows, and that has allowed the band and I to experiment with our sound and polish songs that may have needed a dust off,” she says.

Hollie is focussed on her continued writing and preparing for two upcoming shows in Leigh and Whangarei before Coldplay hits town. The distinctive songs of Hollie Smith have already won fans the world over, but now she can add Coldplay to her list of supporters, after the ubergroup confirmed her as support act for its New Zealand shows in March.

Hollie plays the Leigh Sawmill in Leigh on February 28, and Salut in Whangarei on March 1.

A limited number of tickets are available from Ticketmaster, the venues & Musicor in Whangarei.
