Went there last Friday night.

Many fond memories of that place.

Don't miss the toilets though, having to tip-toe in the lavatories is never pleasant.

The floors of the pisser there were just covered in.... I don't know what Laughing

I hated the stage. It's in a weird place, on an angle, beside the back exit, WTF?

It used to be against the far wall, and bigger, with a side-stage area for your gear and somewhere to chill before and after you play.

But I did like the upstairs rooms. I could be a total rockstar and drink up there, tune up, warm up, and walk up to the stage without being seen all night Cool Laughing

More on the Jetset closure:

One of the finest venues in the South Island is the Jetset Lounge in Christchurch. Hell, it even has accommodation for the band members upstairs! And yet, the Sommerset gig there this Saturday (April 12) will be its last show.

New owners have bought the bar and have decided, in their eternal wisdom, that it will no longer be a venue for live gigs.

Naturally, this is hugely disappointing for Christchurch and for touring bands. The Jetset has long been a supporter of underground and genre acts and this is another blow to the live music scene in this country.

Sad

It was a sh-thole but it was our sh-thole. Laughing

Small enough for local bands, big enough for touring acts. Central enough for a cheap cab, but far away enough from the trendy bars at the same time.

Used to play there when it was "The House of Pain", and "The Southlander" before that.

It'll have gigs again... somehow it always comes back.

Yup, there's always the trusty Dux de Lux, but it's so effin SMALL for gigs. Still, it's always got a good vibe.

Plus there's the new place, "Level 1" above the Rock Shop in Manchester St

And there's the "Granite Bar" in Sol Square, but I haven't heard much about it.
