‘Homecoming kings’ bound for Sandwiches 07
Posted: Thu Dec 7, 2006 1:29 pm
Wellington’s Club Sandwiches today announced a stellar New Year’s Eve ’07 line-up that includes London uber-club Fabric’s resident DJ Tyler Stadius and Chris Tubb’s homecoming performance.

Stadius and Tubbs headline Sandwiches’ NYE line-up, supported by Electric Mojo’s Phil Brokelmann (Germany) and The Shimmy crew’s Takkas and Marek in a four-deck leftfield mash-up.

Canadian-born Stadius is recognised as having a unique, compelling repertoire that elevated him to the upper realms of global dance culture.

Playing a style that sits in the genre of house music, Stadius is, simply-put, no ordinary house DJ. His musical journey can be described as ‘funk to punk and back again’, with significant stop-over points.

Reared on a diet of funk, soul and disco Stadius spent the eighties as a punk-rock singer before spearheading the Canadian dance scene by organising numerous warehouse parties for the infant house scene and establishing the highly-regarded Romper Room club night in Vancouver in 1992.

He has forged an inventive reputation, splicing hip-hop, reggae, funk, soul and jazz with house rhythms, reflecting his influences that range from Marley to Mark Farina and New Order to Depeche Mode.

In addition to his residency at London’s legendary Fabric club, Stadius has played with dance music luminaries Doc Martin, Derrick Carter, Farina, Deep Dish, Ritchie Hawtin, Derrick May, Global Communications and Terry Francis.

Ex-pat Chris Tubbs comes home armed with his crates and the experiences of playing in some of the world’s most demanding and hottest environments.

Since releasing his acclaimed LP Good Days, Better Nights in 2003, Tubbs has become a regular on the European DJ circuit, playing Ibiza, BBC Radio 1’s tour and remixing Breaks Co-Op while immersing himself in the high-stakes world of the European club world.

There’s more compelling reasons to stay in Wellington for NYE ’07 – stay tuned for details.
