Snoop Dogg- FA' SHIZZLE
Tickets on sale: Friday 3rd March through Ticketek

After months of growing speculation, Dainty Consolidated Entertainment is thrilled to announce the upcoming New Zealand tour of hip-hop kingpin SNOOP DOGG.

Having not stepped a foot (or paw, as the case may be) in the country for over eight years, rap’s self-appointed grand pimp Snoop Dogg is ready to return to our shores and wow hip-hop fans in Auckland and Wellington with his signature West Coast flavour. As an added bonus, he’s also making sure his 12-piece live band – the Snoopadelics – make the journey with him.

Snoop Dogg last toured New Zealand in 1998 in a memorable sell-out show. “Snoop Dogg’s last concert at the Supertop was beyond belief,” says John Russell, 'Herald on Sunday Music Writer and former Editor of Real Groove'.

“The expectation was that he’d put on a killer show because it was his first time in New Zealand, but I don’t think anyone really believed it would be such a party affair. The atmosphere in the big tent was incredible, so celebratory, I think because as fans we were finally hearing all those g-funk hits from Doggystyle played live by the man himself. Snoop was in party mode and his good humour rubbed off on the crowd and vice versa... And of course he played all the classic cuts Who Am I? (What’s My Name?), Gin & Juice, Ain’t No Fun (If My Homies Can’t Have None), Doggy Dogg World.
As rap shows go, Snoop’s was near perfect and easily in the top three Hip Hop gigs I’ve ever been to.”

Born Calvin Broadus in California’s Long Beach City, Snoop has grown from a teenage member of the notorious Crip gang to a 90’s rap superstar to a global entertainment icon – and he’s still only in his early thirties. Due to his gang allegiance and ties with California hip-hop legend Dr. Dre, his 1993 album Doggystyle was the first debut album ever to enter the Billboard charts at number one. Singles such as “What’s My Name?” “Gin & Juice” and “Ain’t No Fun (If The Homies Can’t Have None)” came to define West Coast hip-hop in that era. Having now completed seven studio albums, with his most recent being 2004’s R&G: (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece featuring the smash hit “Drop It Like It’s Hot”, Snoop has
proven himself a rare survivor in the cut-throat rap game. In 2005 alone he had two Top 40 singles – “Drop It Like It’s Hot” with uber-producer Pharrell Williams and “Signs” with pop star Justin Timberlake.

In addition to his music, Snoop Dogg is also the ultimate rap brand. The street-savvy entrepreneur gets his hustle on in every way imaginable, from his signature line of Pony Sneakers (“Doggy Biscuitz”), to namesake foot-long hot dogs (“Snoop Doggs”), to his MTV show Doggy Fizzle Televizzle and frequent appearances in video games such as True Crime: Streets Of LA. His film career took off in 1998 with a small role in the indie flick Half Baked, and continues to flourish every year, with acclaimed roles in The Wash, Training Day, Starsky & Hutch, Soul Plane and Baby Boy to date.

Currently promoting Bigg Snoop Dogg Presents: Welcome To Tha Chuuch, an album he executive produced featuring artists from his Doggy Style Records plus guests, Snoop can also be seen in Boss’n Up, a film inspired by the music of his latest album, R&G. Boss’n Up is the story of Corde Christopher (played by Snoop), a dead-end grocery clerk who joins the fast life and becomes a pimp to realise his wildest dreams – with major consequences.

Joining Snoop for his Auckland show is special guest SAVAGE. A founding member of New Zealand’s premier hip hop group the Deceptikonz he needs no introduction. Having racked up gold & platinum plaques for his work on classic Australasian hip hop release’s from both Scribe & Mareko, and the massive “Not Many Remix”. Savage’s ‘MOONSHINE’ released last year was the most successful single in the history of the Dawn Raid Entertainment label, having accumulated 2 x platinum sales in New Zealand.

So, get out your flyest pimp suits, run to the store for those custom-made alligator dress shoes, make sure your perm’s perfect and get ready to holler “pimp, pimp, hooray!” (Snoop’s own cheer) when the Doggfather rolls into your city – it will be a night of classic hip-hop you won’t want to miss.

Thu 13 April 06 - Events Centre - Wellington
Sat 15 April 06 - Supertop, Ericsson Stadium - Auckland
