Australian seven-piece Rubix Cuba are heading south for winter, touring New Zealand throughout early July.

After a successful 2006 tour of New Zealand with Neville Staple’s Specials (UK), consisting of shows in both Wellington and Auckland Rubix Cuba were primed for a return trip in mid 2007.

The Newcastle(NSW)-based band will return to Wellington and Auckland whilst visiting both North and South Islands. The tour starts in Nelson with a tipped to sell-out all ages show and finishes with a bumper headline show in Auckland on 13 July 2007 with locals ska band, The WBC.

Rubix Cuba is in the process of recording their debut album With Life, with ARIA Award-winning producers Dave Henderson and Rob Taylor, to follow the EPs With Beauty (2004) and With Love (2002). Begun in 2006 the album is due for release in November 2007 whilst the band continue to gig and play festivals throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Formed in 2001, Rubix Cuba has played alongside Reel Big Fish, Mad Caddies, Royal Crown Revue, Fat Freddy’s Drop and Suicide Machines; basically every touring act close to their genre (and some not so close such as The Bronx).

As a band these Rubix Cubans create more delightful contradictions than a communist dictator and boast more stylistic twists and turns than a capitalist 80s fad; it’s pop for ska fans and ska for pop fans with…of course, some Cuban musical influences.

Rubix Cuba are Heading South for Winter and bringing the party!!
