WRITTEN BY WOLVES

Written By Wolves are one of the highest streamed rock bands from New Zealand, having amassed more than 350,000 monthly listeners and more than 36 million streams on Spotify and over 100,000 subscribers and 46 million views on YouTube. Having announced themselves on the world stage with their debut release, Secrets, the band followed up in 2021 with their new EP and mental health initiative, The Collab Project. This is an ongoing program started by the band to spread awareness and remind followers and fans that no matter what mental health struggles they might be going through, they do not need to go through these alone. The aim is to help normalise talking about mental health issues and to help to break down the stigma attached to mental health. The EP features collaborative re- imaginings of songs from the debut album with Kellin Quinn (Sleeping With Sirens), Trenton Woodley (Hands Like Houses), Sonny Sandoval (P.O.D) and more!

In December they released the single Papercut, a cover of the famous Linkin Park anthem about mental health, rounding off what was an incredible year for the band. 2022 has seen them in the studio, while they will soon be undertaking a countrywide tour with their mates Blindspott.

"The songs have deliberately been placed in an order which takes us on a wild ride of emotions, taking us into places which make us think, yet also lifts us and rocks us hard when the time is right. To say I believe the message and concept behind this EP is one of the most important ever to be brought through rock music is an understatement." - Muzic.net.nz

SHEPHERDS REIGN

Tribal. Supremely talented. Fiercely noble. Richly proud. Shepherds Reign are bringing their house to your ears, mind and heart, their power and passion unequivocal, their musical voices luminescent and majestic. Hailing from South Auckland, and thus Polynesian by birth and blood, Filiva’a James (vocals and keytar), Gideon Voon (guitar), Oliver Leupolu (guitar/production), Shaymen Rameka (drums) and Joseph Oti-George (bass) are not playing games. Shepherds Reign is life, Shepherds Reign is survival, Shepherds Reign is mental and physical health and Shepherds Reign is what they are on this planet to do. Their voice is their mighty, fearsome music and their vocation is to share with the world every aspect of their lives and cultures.

EKKO PARK

Nominated for Best Rock Artist at the 2021 Aotearoa Music Awards, Ekko Park roared into 2022 with the release of Breakdown and Violent Silent, the first two singles from the forthcoming UnMute EP. The band's third album Horizon was released in August 2020, featuring the single All Eyes On Me which spent 16 weeks in the Radioscope Rock Airplay Chart, peaking as the #2 most played Rock song in New Zealand.

Since the release of their debut album Tomorrow Tomorrow Today in 2013, which received a nomination for Best Rock Album at the 2014 New Zealand Music Awards, and their sophomore album Know Hope in 2015, Ekko Park has played sold-out tours of NZ, headlined tours of the UK, Ireland, Italy and Australia, supported international touring acts such as Simple Plan and Seether as well as playing major New Zealand festivals.

CORIDIAN

Coridian is an alternative rock group from Auckland, New Zealand, formed in 2015 by the Raven brothers Mike (guitar), Kris (drums), Nick (bass) with Dity Maharaj (vocals). They have released a string of singles and music videos plus three EPs as part of their Elements Concept with 2015’s Oceanic (Water), 2017’s Caldera (Earth) and 2020’s Eldur (Fire). 2022 is the year of Hava (Air), the final chapter and full-length album. With the first single Wicked Game (a fan favourite reimagining of Chris’s Isaak’s classic tale) being released in 2021, followed by Endless War, a new chapter for Coridian begins with Hava planned for the end of the year.

Coridian recently completed their Elements Tour throughout New Zealand and they're excited to get back on the stage again in Auckland.

PULL DOWN THE SUN

Birthed out of Whanganui, Aotearoa in 2014 and consisting of Koert Wegman (vocals, guitar), Jason Healey (guitar) and Stefan Bourke (drums), Pull Down The Sun delivers a blast of celestial power combining elements of prog metal and heavy riff-driven post-rock. Existing within a triangle between Gojira, Isis, and Deftones, they have mastered the diverse language of modern metal to enrapture the listener with mythical tales from their Maori homeland.

Self-released in late 2020, their debut album Of Valleys and Mountains is more than a collection of well written songs, it is a sonic ritual that draws you in as it goes along, while vibrant rays of light to pierce through the haze and the mist dissipates to reveal the hidden song at the heart of their enrapturing homeland.

VENOM DOLLS

With a freshly released EP and host of experience performing at local venues, Venom Dolls, fast paced, highly relatable tunes are sure to get you dancing/moshing/accidentally injuring your neighbour.

Since forming at the end of 2020, Venom Dolls have kept busy invading local venues and adding to the growing list of NZ women pushing their way into the scene. One week after release, tracks from their debut EP had been played on a variety of NZ community radio stations, reaching number 3 on RDU 98.5FM’s Te Ahi Top 10), and Adelaide outfit Three D Radio’s Top 20+1 most played new releases. Taking heavy inspiration from other loud women such as Babes in Toyland and Destroy Boys, their sound fuses classic old school punk energy with hints of the metal, pop punk and blues tunes they devoured in adolescence. “Genres are weird, we just play what feels right for the song.”

STACKED

Stacked are a melodic hardcore band from Tamaki Makaurau. Emerging from multiple years of success through Smokefree Rockquest and packing out various council venues they've solidified themselves as a staple of the all-ages scene. 2022 sees Stacked working hard to move into R18 venues and finishing their debut EP which should be released later this year. With influences ranging from math-rock to hardcore, Stacked's energy onstage is something that has provided them success over the past few years and is something that must be seen by all fans of heavier music.
