About Roadsterz

With a name spanning forty years - if not a history - Roadsterz is the latest band of 60s rocker Johnny Rowe: a Legend in his own Lead Break.

Formed in 1996 as The Grope with singer/songwriter Johnny Rowe on guitar; his son Steve Rowe on drums; Jacob Senior on bass; plus others, the band played around the Wairarapa and Wellington for three years before Johnny needed to take a break due to health concerns.

Reformed in 2001 as The Groped with new members, the band went through a series of bass players trying to recapture the groove they had back in '96, but to no avail. This, as well as the departure of the remaining non-Rowe original band members, and the addition of singer/songwriter Julie Lintern, led to a complete rethink and so in early 2004 Roadsterz was (re)born. The younger band members chose the name, as it was the name of Johnny Rowe's first band way back in the 1960s.
