Posted: Mon Dec 3, 2007 10:14 pm

You know you are going to party with

KATCHAFIRE , CHE FU with The Krates, PHOENIX FOUNDATION, THE WBC , TAHUNA BREAKS , THE CONSTITUENTS, EQWANOX, THE EXILES , GASOLINE COWBOY, MIDNIGHT YOUTH and THE SITUATIONS.

Just confirmed as part of MR07 you will also get to enjoy the sounds of THE BATUCADA SOUND MACHINE. Loosely translated, Batucada means percussive samba jam. Throw in two guitars, bass, keyboard, a slick horn section and one of the Pacific's finest MCs, and you have Batucada Sound Machine. The group have recently completed final mix and mastering of their debut album at Avatar Studios New York with Neil Sparkes (Temple Of Sound). Join them to celebrate the launch of the album at Galatos November 16 with a great pick of special guests in Tahuna Breaks. BADTOWN. Flying the flag hard and fast for Westie land this 3 piece effortlessly combine swaying ska undertones overlaid with great rocking vocals. This will be a fun set you should make a point of being a part of. SLIPPING TONGUE are JENNIE SKULANDER-VOCALS, RAMON DELANE AULDE-GUITAR/VOCALS, MIKE MAYHEM MACKIE-BASS/SCREAMS and JARROD DOBBSY DOBBS-DRUMS. Gearing up for the release of their debut album in early 08 ST continue the reputation of hard rockin bands with a hectic workload and join MR07 as part of their My Kingdom Falls Summer Tour. Check out their myspace site and the new video. Energy plus.

Both the VIP and GA tickets with parking are proving very popular. The event has a definite capacity and once the tickets are sold there will be no extensions. Don’t talk amongst yourselves for too long – accommodation in Whitianga is already at a premium. Camping is an option this year but sites are limited. GET IT TOGETHER!!!

For 07 the site has moved. A little closer to the town of Whitianga just off SH25 at Moewai Road. The new site enables us to offer far more room for both parking and camping. Yes there are camping and parking options but these are limited so pre book and you won’t miss out. Glass, pets and byo alcohol are prohibited anywhere on the site. All entrants will need to submit to a search to confirm they are not carrying or concealing any of the above items.

VIP Platinum Pass (R18 ONLY)

Limited to 1000. This ticket allows access to the site from 3pm Sunday 30th December. There are various options available including parking and camping for VIP Pass holders.
There is an exclusive covered marquee area for VIP Pass holders which includes sight of mainstage, food, bar and your own toilet facilities. This will be open for VIP Pass holders from 4.00pm on Sunday 30th December
This ticket will only be available online at www.liveinconcert.co.nz while stocks last.

General Admission Tickets

Limited numbers available. This is a general admission ticket with a prepaid parking option. Access to car park from midday 31st December.
This ticket holder has access to the venue and may enjoy both entertainment stages. Either mainstage or the adjacent R18 Mojo Bar which has its own stage, food and beverage and an eight band lineup.

In its second year Mercury Rising is now able to offer limited camping space and a far bigger area for parking. With accommodation in the area being at a premium at this time of year this facility gives all concert goers the opportunity to remain on site in both a safe and secure environment. The right to camp has been granted on a temporary emergency basis by the Thames Coromandel District Council. The successful operation of the facility will enable development for concert goers in the future. It is important that all concert goers are aware that there is a total fire ban which relates to the site.

The event is an all age’s event with R18 restricted areas where concert goers will need to have their proof of age before they can enter.

This year Mercury Rising continues the philosophy of a NZ sounds only festival with the entertainment spread to a second stage situated in the Mojo Bar area. The mainstage flavour is eclectic but founded on the endearing sounds of New Zealand and the Pacific whereas the Mojo stage is decidedly rock. The grouping of some of NZ’s finer up and coming names on this stage is testimony to the enormous pool of talent we have to draw from in New Zealand. Both stages wave the flag high and proud for the names we call our own – Mercury Rising is all about New Zealand artists sharing this great night of celebration with fans and partygoers alike. The traditional kiwi summer at the beach with great kiwi sounds at Mercury Rising.

For all the latest information on the performing artists check their web addresses below. Get to the Coromandel and be a part of their New Years Eve. Take the time to get it together before you arrive so you don’t miss out on either camping or parking.
