Greetings from across the Ditch!

At both South by Southwest Music, Film and Interactive Festivals and Conferences in Austin Texas each March and every two years at the AustralAsian Music Business Conference in Sydney August 20-22, we love Kiwi talent and businesses to be a part of our events. So I'm coming to NZ for meetings in June.

This year, the rep for SxSW and the producer of the AMBC is travelling to New Zealand to meet up with the industry and talk about both submitting artists and films to SxSW and attending as a delegate at SxSW next March and the AMBC in August. I'm Phil Tripp in Sydney and it's easy to see why I love to come over--married to a Kiwi and also a lover of NZ wines!

Submissions for band showcasing and film showing at SxSW starts August 3 and I'll be in Wellington June 29 and Auckland June 30 to talk about the best strategies for artists, managers, independent labels, promoters, mini-moguls and music industry folk to take advantage of this event which happens March 12-21. The NZMIC has had a stand there for several years and other promotions at SxSW. It's also been a great opportunity for bands and businesses to break through.

Also, I'll be liaising with my trans-Tasman music professionals to be a part of the longest-running (18 years), most compelling and successful music business conference which takes place in Sydney with
50+ speakers, nine seminars, six top keynote speakers and incredible
networking August 20-22. Go to our site at http://www.immedia.com.au/ambc to see the list of 30 speakers already announced, our schedule and topics with early-bird rates that click over May 31.

The South by Southwest sites are http://www.sxsw.com and locally you can go to http://www.themusic.com.au/sxsw for information on submitting bands or attending. In 2009, we had over 70 bands invited of which 50 played and 240 delegates went from my territories of Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii. With the NZMIC stand and promotion, great performance opportunities for indie bands as well as a fantastic series of seminars, a massive trade fair and over 1800 artists showcasing in 80+ venues over five days, it's a must-do for music pros.

For those of you interested in attending this free series of two nights of talk and information, I'm securing the venues in each city this week, we'll have plenty of details on each and we'll also be giving away a free VIP Pass to the AMBC in Wellington and Auckland on the night as well as your being in the running for a free trip to SxSW in our AMBC draw just by attending the nights.

Email me at [email protected] to be placed on our RSVP list for Wellington on June 29 or Auckland on June 30, it's free, fun and inspiring. Or if you want to be kept informed of SxSW or AMBC, simply hit reply and tell us to email or mail you information. Make sure to give us a mailing address. If you want to call to Sydney across the ditch to discuss in advance, I'm on 61 2 9557 7766.

BTW, here are current fares from NZ to Sydney for the AMBC. We also have great hotel rates within walking distance of the venue in Sydney's Olympic Centre. you can register now at early bird rates at http://www.immedia.com.au/ambc/register
