BDO Rumours
Posted: Tue Jul 1, 2003 9:14 am
Place all your BDO rumours here for the 2004 Big Day Out:

Big Day Out 2004 will be on Friday 16 January 2004, and muzic.net.nz will be sending another team up there next year. It's at it's usual venue, Ericsson Stadium, Beasley Avenue, Penrose, Auckland.

Tickets will be available from 10 October 2003, with the line-up being announced and confirmed in early October. All line-up announcements will be found in muzic.net.nz news.

And the first rumour comes from Median Strip:

As earlier rumours suggested, Metallica looks set to headline next years Big Day Out.

Although the first BDO line-up announcements are not due to be made for several months year, rumours of a Metallica performance at next year's show began circulating months ago.

Then on Friday, the band's touring itinerary was leaked to fan sites ahead of any official word - with a string of Australian dates set around the same time as the BDO.

The only concern now for Metallica fans is that the band do not join the list of rude cads who annually bypass New Zealand to join the BDO line-up once it crosses the Tasman.

Metallica have now officially confirmed their placing in the Auckland Big Day Out - they have responded to the frequent enquiries from fans in this part of the world, saying: "Metallica heading down under? You bet your arse we are!!! What better way to start off 2004 than a few Big Day Out shows, huh?"

Great! If I end up going next year (I always say I won't), I can go home early.

" i'll lay it out straight. we wanna do big day out but i'm under orders that we've got to finish the album first. hopefully, i will and we will make it in time to be considered, then hopefully they will consider and accept, then we will be on the first quantus flight (which i happen to think are a shite airline) and bonkers crazy NZ shit will ensue"

BDO rumours? bah!
muzic.net.nz is going to be the first New Zealand music site to give you officially confirmed bands (as per information supplied by the bands, not information supplied by the nice people at Big Day Out) for New Zealand's BDO - much better than rumours any day!

The first official announcement is in October, but I'm sure this will keep you satisfied until then....

The first three bands to be officially confirmed for Big Day Out 2004 are:

- Metallica (but we already knew that, right?)
- Queens Of The Stone Age
- and New Zealand's very own Salmonella Dub

Watch this space and we'll announce more, only here on muzic.net.nz!

Tomorrow all rumours will be squashed - the first official BDO announcement will take place tomorrow!

I'm hoping to have the list up on the site (on our news page) tomorrow, but this will most likely take place after 6pm (when I get home) - so check out www.bigdayout.com in the meantime and if you want to post the bands up in here go for it!

I heard a rumor that The Strokes are to play a side show the night before, and all the side shows in Aussie are with Kings Of Leon, so logic would dictate that they're side show here be with them as well.

I hope it's true.

cause then I can go see them the night before, and watch the whole Mars Volta set..
