Ok people... please stay with me on this one.... while in greymouth and wellington i kept hearing a song that had a guy singing and basically just a piano in the background. I know that is no much to work with.. but if anybody has any ideas as to what new/old song this might be please let me know. I never did catch the words just sounded like a cool song.. any and all suggestions/ help is appreciated.

Easy... Mad World by Gary Jules. If its not that then I have no idea...Elton John? Candle in the wind?

Mad World is such a beautiful song, some of the best lyrics too.

Mad World is really cool and it drove me insane. I wanted to know who sang it because I heard the song on the Donny Darko movie but I knew the guy singing it wasn't the original person.

But I couldn't find out who actually wrote it.

Gary Jules only sings it he is not the writer of it. Tears For Fears wrote it and their version is even better.

nah gary jules' version is much more better, i think just simply with the piano gives the lyrics a much more meaningful presence. tears for fears rule though.

Well this song does sound like the one i heard but its not. This one is currently played on the radio right now that im looking for. I wish i could remember some of the lyrics. I live in the states and never heard it here. I must say while in NZ you guys have some of the best music i have heard in a while from internation and local bans. If anyone else has any suggestions let me know ... thanks for your help everyone else.

you do realise how many songs you can be given based on your description dont you?... there are thousands of songs, especially older ones, that are just a guy and a piano! its crazy!!

anyway, hope you find what your looking for! I cant help, theres not enough info for me....

I know there are a million out there, but this one was currently played all the time on the station that was on. Oh well.... maybe i will hear it on my next trip to NZ and actually remember to get the lyrics.
