Personally I find Nz hip hop much more bearable than american hip hop.

It's music (and yes, it IS music), that you can kick back and enjoy listening, like che fu and this other hip hop/reggae type band that I don't know the name of but they're cool.

That other stuff, Chingy and Ludacris etc, just gets on my nerves, it's so in-your-face and offensive. There's nothing cool in rapping about how many bitches n ho's you ride wif every night in your pimped out wagon, hollerin' at ya nigs out da window to score some drugs n maybe getting in a fight to top the night off.

And those t-shirts look like my grandmas nighties, come on.

Personally I don't like rap but you gotta give it to some of the rapers in nz, What they have achieved and proved is pretty awesome for a small country of 4-5 million.If I HAD to listen rap I would chose NZ rap over US,UK etc.
Because I think overseas rap is more about apearance than actual talent e.g. Like whose the richest,got the most bitches,been shot the most times and whose muthafuckin Hard G.(Absolute Straight Fukin Shit).

A lot of New Zealand music is better in general I think,not just hip hop,especially when it comes to live. Shihad would easily rock an auidience of 900 000 as good as or better than ANY international live act,we are great at creating our own type of music something that is a catogory in its own right eg fat freddies,trinity roots,militia,minuit,this night creeps,the mint chicks,yes I maybe a scratch bias but in general kiwi music is not so concerned with fitting into what the rest of the world is doing,were happy being individuals and we do it soooo well. One New Zealand band I have never got though,is crowded house. I think their good but whats with the legendary status OTHER than the fact they did well overseas? definatly not the best music act to come from new zealand by a long shot oh and Lady six would kick lil kims ass any day

Please don't confuse 'G-UNIT' with the likes of RUN DMC, Sugar Hill Gang and Eric B & Rakim. They created the genre, and their stuff is still AWESOME!

'G-UNIT' and all other commercial acts circa 2000 are pathetic, I agree.

I also love Jack Johnson, such relaxing music. He has a beautifully soothing voice... makes me want to drift off to sleep...

no offence dude,, but everyone here who is in a band probably does do that at there gigs..

and with rockquest most of us have done it and know that stage presence is important!! And CAN do it..
Sorry,, that was too pointed at rock/punk/metal for me to not say anything..

I could say more but i can't be bothered and I'd probably repeat myself..

stage presence is important in rockquest, but rock quest is real bullshit.

i believe a live performance is more than just sound and jumping about, its a whole theatrical performance, and visual aids can be used to great effect.
