yep, I used to be a hardcore Metallica fan, and when buying St. Anger even I couldn't be brought to likeing it.

Although 'the unnamed feeling' is a sweet song. The rest is pretty average.

Everything up until and including the black album is good, after that it's average. Neutral

Yeah I reckon they're a bit past it... and that's coming from someone who STILL counts themself a HUGE fan.

I heard a live bootleg of a new track and it was god-awful... no redeeming features whatsoever.

I love the Load albums personally, not stricly metal albums but solid hard-rock CD's nonetheless.

would've been interesting to see metallicas direction if burton was still alive.

did you hear about the stupid way he died?

Have you heard them live lately? James has lost ALL of his grunt in his voice, his clean singing voice sounds shot... Kirk is sloppy, Lars can't hold a beat to save himself, it's borderline embarrasing to listen to recent live recordings.

Well considering Cliff was the guy who was into classical and folk music, it's hard to say.

Yeah, the way he died was uncanny... Kirk was actually supposed to be sleeping in that bunk too!

I hardly think that metallica is past it! youse have to remember the turnout the big day out got here in new zealand a few years back and that was only because of metallica and they are playing at that huge concert in tokyo next month which is only really for the best bands. the fact that they are still being invited to huge concerts and events shows you that they are still amazing, you dont have to be obsessed with them though. im a bit over them because i went through a phaze of listening to metallica all the time but they are still a great band regardless!

Well, they may not be past it as far crowd attendance goes ... but come on it's Metallica - of course you're gonna go see them... even if their new material is a bit shite...

yep, cliff drew the ace of spades to get that bunk in the bus.

Ive seen a few live videos of them recently and it does sadly seem to be lacking somewhat. That could just be the poor quality of the recordings tho.

Nah, they're bad, period. I"ve heard soundboard recordings and it's not flash.... James sounds ghastly, Lars can't keep one double kick beat in time... still, at a zillion decibels who's gonna notice??? I saw them live in 1998 and it was amazing.

well I'm not sure if tainted has heard a different story, but as I know it, his tour bus fell on him or something (he was stuck under it anyway) , and they were lifting it up off him and they dropped it back on down on him.

is that how you know it tainted?

yeah metallicas old stuff will always be gold. Happy

Nah they didn't lift it and drop it...

The bus hit some black ice (just out of Stockholm i believe) and jack-knifed, throwing cliff out of his bunk, out the window and onto the road, the bus landing immediately on him, killing him instantly. The guys saw his lifeless body half-under the bus... trajic Crying

Hard to believe it was 20 years ago... he was only 23, and had only been in Metallica for 3 years.... shit, I was only 8 years old then.
