Its that time again...BDO 2006 rumours!
Posted: Sat Aug 6, 2005 12:07 pm
Hey follks! its that time again! well, I don't know if I'm doing this too early but eh... rumours for BIG DAY OUT 2006!

Doing a bit of internet browsing, talking to mates, and following some big day out patterns..

There is an idea for headliners that it'll be ones that have stood the test of time and that have been influential, so rumours for this: Red Hot Chili Peppers, REM, and a quite a stretch-U2.

Others that could make an appearance: Kings of Leon, Motley Crue, Cold Play, Mudvayne, Beck seems to be a popular pick, as well as the constant pleading of The Pixies.

On another topic...does anybody else get this? Sometimes when I go to festivals, theres a few bands I know but the majority I've never heard of. When it gets to about a month after the festival, I start to really get into the bands I didn't know anything about at the festival, and regret not taking the opportunity to see them live. This year it happened to me at Big Day Out with The Music, Evermore and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Wish I could go back in time...

Didn't Billy say "I've made plans to revive the Smashing Pumpkins", but you could be right. If they are getting back together, obviously they'd do a renuniting tour, and think about, it is actually possible for them to come. They would do big festivals and shows for US and Europe next year, what better way to warm up than to do a few smaller festivals in Australia and New Zealand? I know its a bit out there, but admit it, it is possible. I mean the Smashing Pumpkins! its like my ultimate dream in life to see them live!

man, come to think of it, it'd be great if Linkin Park could make an appearance. I know eveybody says "oh theyre a damn nu metal band, theyre stuff all sounds the same" but I've been a fan since 2001, and I admit I've kinda gone off them, but they'd still be an awesome show.

Wish some big metal bands that otherwise never play here would make an appearance, man what I'd give to see Iron Maiden and Slayer...

And Suffocation, Nile and Cryptopsy...

Ah yeah I know exactly what you mean...when you read over the timetable and don't recognise some of the bands and then a few wks after big day out you just wanna kick yourself! That's why I now try to listen to a song or two from each of the bands and that way if they sound cool il go check em out. Kings of Leon played in 2004 and i didnt kno who the heck they were so skipped them and then a couple of months l8a i listened to their music and loved them!! Btw I don't think that Coldplay are coming to BDO'06, I know they'r definately coming to NZ in Jan though, think theyre havin their own concert. Would b nice if they played at BDO tho. Dammit!!!...I want System back!!!

What was with the Black eyed Peas playing in 2004? I remember feeling cheated that they were playing and that people were enjoying it! What the hell went wrong! am i the only one who found this absurd?

bad news, everyone have a look at this link http://www.fasterlouder.com.au/news/aust/2964/ it basically says that chillis arent goin to australia anymore(near the bottom of the article) because they have to finish their album. everyone have a look and tell me wat ya think. it also says the date of the melbourne Big Day out. is nz's before or after australia?

before

I'm kinda glad the RHCP aren't doing the bdo, because I won't be able to afford it this time. Plus they might do their own shows at a later date, whuch would be better than bdo
