DateMonthYear are Releasing a New Music Video and Digital Album on 31st January

22 January 2020 - 0 Comments

Hamilton Independent music mavericks DateMonthYear are following on from the physical release of their 5th album with the next stage which includes a new music video and digital-version album release to all streaming services on the 31st of January.

The music video is directed by DateMonthYear founder and writer Trevor Faville, and Kathleen Christian who put together the challenging video for Numbers which looks at some the unpleasant undersides of New Zealand society

The video is for the song Exodus and is going to be no less of a challenging view for some. The lyrics of the song are described cryptically by songwriter Faville as ‘The farewell letter written after the fall’ and the imagery matches the lyrical exposition of ecological catastrophe from human consumption. Faville adds ”the challenge was to construct a video that has impact without resorting to overtly graphic or explicit imagery, as well as not trying to exploit current divisive popular rhetoric on related subjects. We want to think that viewers could watch, reflect and think”

This video is the first of three planned for this year.

The song Exodus will be on the digital release of the DateMonthYear’s fifth album, which will also go live on the 31st of January to all streaming services.

The new album continues to be available as a CD from the DateMonthYear home site

The new video will join the existing collection of DateMonthYear videos on the DateMonthYear YouTube Channel
