Band & Musician News - 16 year-old Kiwi’s song chosen for San Jose promotional campaign

16 year-old Kiwi’s song chosen for San Jose promotional campaign

14 June 2019 - 0 Comments

16 year-old kiwi songwriter Grace Kelly’s new single San Jose has been selected to promote the northern Californian city of the same name.

At just 16 years old, Auckland singer/songwriter Grace Kelly has a big voice and a real knack for songwriting. The Californian city of San Jose thinks so too, choosing her brand new single San Jose as their theme song.

Grace’s songs derive from coming of age life experiences, sharing her highs and lows through her country/pop leanings, influenced by the Nashville music scene.

2016 and 2018 saw Grace record several songs in Nashville with the creme de la creme of local talent, including renowned fiddle player Jenee Fleenor, Grammy award-winning guitarist, Tom Wild, keyboardist Steve King (Keith Urban) and drummer, Jim Riley (Rascal Flatts).

San Jose proved to be a stand out track from the recording sessions, and earlier this year, in conjunction with Team San Jose, Grace filmed an accompanying music video with Director of Photography Roger Pistole, who has shot a multitude of music videos for the likes of Miranda Lambert, Dan Auerbach, Halestorm, and Keith Urban.

The video was officially released yesterday at the ‘Visit San Jose’ annual meeting, attended by over 500 people from Silicon Valley. Team San Jose announced they plan to use the song and video to promote the city.

To mark the New Zealand release of San Jose, Grace was a special guest on TV One’s Seven Sharp last night. Watch her interview here.

Currently in the US to promote her song, Grace has been invited to sing at the Radio KRTY Song and Wine Series event this evening, where Country songs are performed by the songwriters themselves, including Taylor Swift's songwriter Liz Rose.

Grace Kelly is a bright young talent on the rise. While still in high school, she continues to record and write and hopes to finish her debut album in the near future. Watch this space.

San Jose is now available on all digital streaming services.
