Band & Musician News - New EP for The Jiveniles

New EP for The Jiveniles

18 October 2018 - 0 Comments

Anna Bennetto, Connor Lyttle and Dayne Robinson unite in an alternative-rock band, The Jiveniles, for a three-piece starburst of talent, image and authenticity. The band had the fantastic opportunity to work with some of New Zealand’s greats namely; Oli Wilson of The Chills, Warren Maxwell formerly of Fat Freddy’s Drop, and Devon Abrams the founder of Shapeshifter; this EP was destined to be great.

Fresh off of their first ever live show at an almost sold out Thistle Hall on Wellington's own Cuba Street, The Jiveniles have finally released their first ever EP. Bringing together the incredible musical talent of Anna, Connor, and Dayne, the songs Boss and Rough Edges are groovy tunes with a deeper meaning.

Boss, the first song on the EP is a subtle reflection on mental health and the battle of having overcome it, but still having to take control of that fight so it can’t get the best of you. In turn Rough Edges is more of a look at our world and what we’ve done to it. Anna’s lyrics explore how difficult it’ll be for the world to undo the problem’s it’s created. Both songs are held up with a sick bassline and keys too (the cowbell in Boss is something you can’t miss). The EP is available now on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music and more!

The Jiveniles are a brand new addition to the Wellington music scene, with each member of the band coming together from different musical backgrounds. The culmination of Anna’s vocals and keys – with Dayne’s insane drumming and Connor’s whack bass skills – are a mastery of good times for all listeners to jive with. Boasting a stage performance that feels years practised, this group is a beautiful melting pot of some of Wellington’s most talented musicians. Marketed not just as this band, but individually, The Jiveniles have what it takes.

“Panthera, Jimi Hendrix, Arctic Monkeys – they’ve influenced me. I’m rough, obnoxious, loud & proud. My Dad is a drummer, so I’ve been playing them since… always.” – Dayne

“I’m usually quite colourful and quirky. I love Elvis, Matt Corby, Jack Johnson… I’ve been playing keys for about 8 years – self-taught, I had lessons but never went… I don’t like being taught.” - Anna

“I love style that transcends fashion. I’m a fairly easy going person but really intense. I love Queens of the Stone Age, Tame Impala” - Connor
