Aotearoa’s rising pop star, Cassie Henderson, has released her latest single, lemonade.
This striking new track is the second offering from her forthcoming EP, The Yellow Chapter, continuing the emotional journey woven through her trilogy, The Chronicles of a Heart Broken.
Building on the buzz of her chart-topping single Seconds to Midnight (11:59) — which has dominated the NZ airplay charts for four weeks, climbed into the Shazam NZ top 10, and led the Hot NZ Singles chart — lemonade brings a fresh energy to her already impressive catalogue.
lemonade playfully explores the chaotic cycles of a past relationship. Through its catchy chorus—“You taste sweet like lemonade” — Henderson captures the bittersweet, temporary relief of being with someone familiar. With bluesy rock ‘n roll tones, ‘lemonade’ makes you want to get up and dance… all the way back to your ex’s house.
Long-time collaborator Joe Faris once again guides production, with mastering by Calbi/Fallone, known for their work with Hozier, Kacey Musgraves, and Tame Impala, as well as Henderson's own breakout hit Whatever.
Henderson will debut ‘lemonade’ live at some of New Zealand’s biggest music festivals, including Rhythm & Vines, Rhythm & Alps, and Homegrown, with more dates to be announced soon.lemonade is available on all platforms now.
