Band & Musician News - Pitch Black: Meet The Masters

27 March 2010 - 0 Comments

Pitch Black are coming in to the Red Bull Studios in Auckland on March 30 to talk about music production and audio technology in the next round of the Technical Sessions.

The Technical Sessions is hosted by Kerry Adams and each month a new interview is held at the Red Bull Studios in Auckland with New Zealand's top music producers. New episodes go online every week with highlights from the interviews available for everyone to enjoy.

Pitch Black are award winning multimedia artist Michael Hodgson and Salmonella Dub producer Paddy Free. Having pumped their way through New Zealand's electronic music scene since their inaugural performance at the annual Gathering New Year's eve festival in 1997, they have spent the last twelve years rousing dance floor punters, generating rave reviews, winning awards and gaining thousands of fans across the world.

"I started the Technical Sessions as a way to share information about production and DJing. The artists we interview have a wealth of knowledge and more importantly they have the experience, which is something that goes beyond what many of the online tutorials currently provide" - Kerry Adams

The Technical Sessions interviews cover all aspects of producing and performing electronic music - with studio tips, gear recommendations, and reflections and advice on the scene today. It provides a wealth of information to anyone getting started or already involved in the creation of electronic music.  The interviews are intended to go deeper into the creative and technical aspects of the music with the artists.

"We hope to grow the scope of the sessions this year with more interviews, tutorials and gear reviews.  Hopefully with a bit of support we will also get down country and visit some of the incredible musicians all around New Zealand" - Kerry Adams

The Technical Sessions document key artists from the New Zealand Electronic Music Industry, capturing their stories from a unique perspective and quite unlike anything that has ever been done before. New Zealand electronica artists are starting to command attention on a world stage and The Technical Sessions is a chance to meet them and hear their stories.

Everyone is invited to come along to be part of the live interview or get involved online with questions and comments.  In-depth interviews are currently available featuring the godfather of house Greg Churchill, popular export Simon Flower, production whiz-kid Tim Richards and local breaks heroes Antiform.  Regular episodes are added each week and can be found at www.technical-sessions.com or on YouTube.
