Good Intentions is the latest song from contemporary alt-rocker Sam Bartells, a powerful track from one of our finest emerging singer-songwriters.

An impressive, emotionally-packed, and lavish single, Sam delivers a majestic vocal performance on Good Intentions, the follow up from his last songs - the highly successful, radio-friendly Bring You Down, and the heartfelt tribute to a dear friend, Soul Burdened Soldier.

Says Sam, “Good Intentions is a song about realising that you have been doing it all wrong, and in a moment of clarity you can suddenly see it all so clearly. That’s when you decide you’re gonna have to fight to change and survive, if you ever want to find any peace.”

Boasting a superb line-up of musicians who regularly record with Sam, musical duties are capably executed by Stephen Small – strings; Shimna Higgins – fiddle; Maia Huia – bass; Mitch French – lead guitar and Michael Murphy – backing vocals.

Recorded at Roundhead with trusted producer Dave Rhodes once more at the helm, the vocals were completed at his home studio in Whitianga, with mastering by Chris Chetland at KOG. The resulting sound is superbly elevated by the strong vocal, accentuated by the depth of melody and strengthened by the harmonious arrangements and orchestral backing.

With this latest effort, Sam continues to impress and surprise as he builds upon his fast-expanding body of work which has traversed the musical soundscapes between alt-country to folk-singer-songwriter to alt-rock and back again, as Sam follows the muse and goes wherever the music takes him.
