New Zealand Rockers Ekko Park Drop Video For New Single 'Violent Silent', Touring Across NZ through June & July

19 May 2022 - 0 Comments

Following on from the fury of Breakdown , one of New Zealand’s finest rock exports, Ekko Park, recently released their second single for 2022 in the shape of Violent Silent.

A music video for the track has now been released. Frontman Joe Walsh says of the clip "The words came for this song like a lyrical scrapbook. That's kind of how I explained them to myself. And this is what we told Sam who created the video. We shot some old VHS live footage of Jessie's first show with us. We hung out and shot some polaroids. Trying to capture a range of emotions. We love how Sam ran with it and pieced this video together. A visual scrapbook of early 2022 Ekko Park."

Ekko Park - Violent Silent

With its 90’s inspired feels courtesy of an instantly catchy chorus, familiar indie guitar lines and big drums, there’s even some tambourine! Violent Silent is 2 minutes and 47 seconds of pure radio friendly rock n roll.

Joe comments about the song itself; 'Again this song was written during lockdown. You're missing your mates. You're missing your band. You're spending too much time battling with your own mind. It's a crazy time. It's a lonely place. Being shadowed by doubt and fear and the unknown. So you write it down. Each little doubt. Each little fear. One line at a time. You piece it together. Like a scrapbook. You paste it down like an old polaroid. And you pick up your guitar. And when it becomes a song. You turn the page."

It’s been quite a ride since Ekko Park released their last full length album, Horizon, in August of 2020. The album featured the ridiculously catchy, up tempo Uh Oh and smash single All Eyes On Me which featured guest vocalist Grant Nicholas of Welsh indie rock giants Feeder and received radio play the world over!

Off the strength of the record, Ekko were nominated for Best Rock Artist at the 2021 Aotearoa Music Awards! The band recently welcomed new guitarist, Jessie Booth, who is renowned for being part of female rock band She Loves You and is a touring guitarist for Elemeno P.

Violent Silent is the second track from Ekko Park’s forthcoming four track EP, Unmute. Each of the tracks on the release will feature unique themed artwork from New Zealand tattoo artist, James Dean.
