Mo Etc Releases New Video For Her Track ‘Next October’

08 October 2021 - 0 Comments

Next October is the electric third offering from Mo Etc.’s debut album Oceanbed. Oceanbed maintains messages of mana wahine, as she navigates lost love and self discovery. Released on April 23rd, Oceanbed is on all streaming platforms, but today she releases the visual accompaniment for Next October.

The video premiered on Radioactive FM social media channels on Friday 8th October. RadioActive FM have been a big supporter of Mo Etc for about 7 years now, so it only seemed right to have them premiere the video. Mo Etc is also celebrating release day with a show at Moon and both the guest list and waitlist are already filled! If the debut album and music video wasn’t enough, a documentary video of the lead up to the release was released on Wednesday 6th October – Mo ETC’S Band Practise @ The Armada.

With the support of NZ On Air, produced by Ohokomo and directed by Moana Ete, the video was filmed in Mo’s neck of the woods, Newtown, Wellington. “These are streets I grew up on and walk everyday so it's a joy to bring together a story of who I am and where I'm from”. It is another look at Moana Ete in 'day job' mode as director and also features long time friend and collaborator, Wellington dancer/choreographer Braedyn Togi

Mo Etc. is a Pasifika, Soul-Electronica producer and singer/songwriter whose music takes inspiration from 90s RnB, Girl Bands of the 00’s and Neo-Soul giants like Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill, with her distinct soulful vocals. The name Mo Etc came from her real name Moana Ete. When she would sign her name, pre-covid app, it looked like Mo Etc. She works in a range of different creative fields but finds it all a very fluid and seasonal process. Formerly A Girl Named Mo (Mud & Stardust; Stay Warm), this is Mo’s first outing as Mo Etc. a moniker that she wears proudly as it umbrellas her band boasting the incredible musicians Jacqui Nyman, Kamaia Takuira-Mita, Kate McCarthy-Burke and Katie Aldridge.
