Dilz Releases Stunning New Video and Song 'Resurrection' Feat. He Ra

20 July 2021 - 0 Comments

Hip Hop fans have been eagerly awaiting the next release from 25-year-old New Zealand artist Dilz, and he has returned with Resurrection, taken from the album of the same name which is due out later this year. With his fresh voice and creative lyrics, he strives each and every day towards achieving his goal of creating the perfect balance between underground and mainstream music, and with this single he achieves just that.

His 2018 album Metamorphosis debuted at #2 on the New Zealand Hip Hop charts, and he has racked up more than half a million views on his YouTube platform alone. www.muzic.net.nz said it was “an enjoyable listening experience. You can hear all the hard work Dilz has put into this mammoth 16-track album. It's great to hear a fresh Hip-Hop album which isn't as widespread as it used to be. There's loads of elements of dance, Soul, RnB, deep house, and Hip-Hop vibes with a twist, which keep this album feeling interesting. Some of the tracks are absolute world class and I hope to see Dilz go a long way.”

Dilz has many accolades under his belt including collaborating with Rhythm + Flow's runner up, Flawless Real Talk and one of Australian's biggest independent artists, Bmike. He has also worked with renowned NZ artists such as Scribe, Smashproof, J Williams and Mikey Mayz.

Dilz is also no stranger to performing, having headlined two national tours himself as well as opening for the likes of Sid Diamond, Che Fu, Donell Lewis, Kennyon Brown, DJ Noiz, Lion Rezz, Lomez Brown, and completed a mini–North Island tour with The Crusader himself, Scribe.

When asked to provide the inspiration behind the song, Dilz said it is about finding light at the end of the tunnel. “I tell an emotional story whilst expressing trauma from my personal life, but the song and video ends with a message of hope. My music has always been based on my real-life experiences. ‘Truth is, she was the abusive one, physically and mentally.’ Writing these lyrics and allowing not only the public but also my closest friends and family to hear them was daunting to me. As a man it is very difficult to admit that you have previously been a victim of abuse, but I felt the need to share my story in the hopes that it helps others to share theirs. With ‘Resurrection’ I provide my listeners with a deeper insight into some of the hurt in my life in the hopes that it resonates with some and provides form of comfort and a reminder that they are not alone and there are better days to come.”

This is message is deep from his heart and soul, and Dilz is putting it out there for all to hear, telling the truth, even though it is painful and hard for him to do so. It has already been making an impression, with NZ Musician conducting an interview with him regarding Resurrection which can be found here. He is currently putting the finishing touches to the album which will be available later this year, but until then there is no doubt that there will be many who will be putting Resurrection on repeat, and deservedly so.
