Muroki, the first signing to BENEE’s new Olive Music label, releases his first video at 7am this morning — early enough to sneak a peek before the surf is up in Raglan today.
The Shae Sterling-directed clip not only captures the easy going vibe of his song Light Me Up but catches Muroki and his crew hanging in hometown Raglan where skating and chilling are the order of the day in a colourful clip that perfectly matches the song.
And that is most everything Muroki finds to do in Raglan — aside from brewing a good coffee for the locals, teaching guitar and hitting the legendary Manu Bay point break.
As Muroki prepares for a summer of shows including next week’s headline dates in Wellington and Auckland, and festivals including RNV and That Weekend, he can reflect on what he calls a “pretty crazy 2020”.
The 19 year-old’s voice caught the ear of BENEE and she has championed him all year, playing his music for Elton John, inviting him on her sold-out October tour and releasing Light Me Up on Olive.
With more releases already in the can, it’s a perfect time to take a peek into Muroki’s world and catch the soulful wave of his sound.
